General Purpose
The City of Idaho Falls is accepting applications for an Airport Landside Maintenance and Operations Specialist for the Idaho Falls Airport. This position performs a variety of general and skilled duties related to the maintenance and operations of the non-secured portion of airport property, including the airport parking lots, roadways, and other non-secured property owned by the Idaho Falls Airport. Complies with and adheres to all Standard Operating Procedures.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under general supervision of the Airport Director and Airport Assistant Director of Finance & Administration with direct supervision from the Landside Supervisor and guidance from the Airfield Supervisor.

Essential Functions
Performs a variety of tasks for the operation and maintenance of the parking lots including but not limited to snow removal, debris and trash removal, parking space striping, concrete and asphalt repairs, equipment repair and maintenance, inventory counts and other reporting, assisting customers, and providing shuttling service between lots and terminal.
Assists Airport and City staff with maintenance of roadways and walkways on Airport property including snow removal, debris and trash removal, and repairs. May also be required to assist with safety and security operations relevant to curbside and parking management. Ensures airport customers comply with TSA and all airport regulations, and park in appropriate / approved locations. May assist with the inspection and enforcement of the Airport Parking and Ground Transportation program including but not limited to installing permits in vehicles and monitoring those vehicles at the terminal.
Will be required to perform landscaping tasks including but not limited to mowing, trimming, edging, pruning and grooming airport plants, trees, and other vegetation, and debris and trash removal.
Assists Airport staff with the maintenance of vehicles and equipment and the airport maintenance shop. Reports any unsafe conditions to supervisor. Also reports to and assists supervisor in completing incident reports for Airport damaged property and/or customer vehicles.
Performs other duties as required. This position will also be expected to evolve as the landside needs of the Airport change.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Education and Experience:
A. Graduation from high school or GED; AND B. One (1) year of experience in landscaping, snow removal, equipment maintenance, road or parking lot maintenance and/or other related experience; OR C. An equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of traffic laws; working knowledge of snow removal; some knowledge in pavement repair and maintenance; some knowledge in payment processing and safe-guarding receipts. Knowledge of Idaho Falls and surrounding area to provide customer service in finding locations around town, places to stay and eat, etc.
Strong interpersonal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with administrative staff, fellow employees, and public; basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; ability to troubleshoot equipment issues; ability to work in all seasons and types of weather; ability to operate vehicles with plows including pickup trucks and atvs. Ability to operate shuttle van including utilizing wheelchair lift and safety equipment.
Must be able to lift up to 30lbs and follow all product safety and airport material handling procedures.
3. Special Qualifications:
Must possess a valid State of Idaho driver’s license.
Work Environment
Works mainly outside, with exposure to inclement weather. Tasks require a variety of physical activities periodically involving muscular strain related to walking, standing, stooping, sitting and reaching. Essential functions require talking, hearing and seeing. Work with a variety of customers and with mental application utilizes memory for details, emotional stability and discriminating thinking. Common eye, hand, finger dexterity required to perform essential functions. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally is exposed to exhaust and fumes, loud noises, and other sights and sounds normal for outside an airport.
