Prince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreation, Natural and Historical
Resources Division is currently seeking an Airport Operations Specialist for the College Park
Aviation Museum. Details of this position are listed below:
Airport Operations Specialist $17.00 – $26.01 (Depending on experience)
Manages daily duties related to meet and greet of the public; answer questions for pilots
about ground transportation, lodging, refueling, aircraft parking, ATC procedures, accessing
weather resources; refuel aircraft; assist with aircraft parking; fuel farm and runway
inspections; cash handling and retail sales; act as a TSA designated “Alternate Security
Coordinator”; monitor flight activities, airfield, and all airfield access points; log aircraft
operations, verify pilot credentials; perform minor maintenance related duties.
Minimum Qualifications
College Degree preferred; over 18 years of age; pass a Dept. of Homeland Security
background check; working knowledge of office machines (cash register, radio)
and computers; physically able to perform aircraft related duties- climbing
refueling stands and pushing aircraft; previous experience at a public airport in
retail sales and service; basic knowledge of general aviation aircraft and their
operating environment preferred; possession of an FAA Pilot Certificate desirable;
able to work a flexible schedule, evenings, and weekends; must possess a valid
Maryland Driver’s license.

Limited Benefits for Seasonal Employees
Health Insurance Plans
You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period.
If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office.
Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
