POSITION SUMMARY:

The successful candidate will be required to perform all job requirements and meet all qualifications for HVAC Technician. Perform duties under the general direction of the Facilities/Utilities Manager but works independently to perform start/stop operations and logging, installation, monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and/or design modification of HVAC, Process Cooling and Ammonia equipment. This will include basic shop safety, plumbing, hydraulic/pneumatic, electrical, and millwright work for the Fremont Plant. This position will participate in optimizing system designs, maintenance and operational processes. Focus will be on satisfying all safety concerns and participating in short and long range planning for HVAC, Process Cooling and Ammonia systems. Position makes decisions based upon sound maintenance practices and business needs. In addition, support of the NCE / TPM culture through active participation in processes to effect improvements in the areas of People, Quality, Service, Cost, and New Products & Processes are required

Pay:

Pay Range from $35.06 – $37.05:Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Will test and maintain cooling tower water chemistry.
  • Respirator trained.
  • Emergency Response to Technician level.
  • Performs system start-ups and operational checkouts on equipment including operational & performance qualifications and normal startups after PME’s.
  • Restore equipment to operational status after power outages.
  • Defines routine maintenance inspections and planned overhauls for equipment based on frequencies or run hours to attain world class performance.
  • Performs preventive, predictive maintenance and routine inspections.
  • Provides operational support assistance to engineers and operations.
  • Specifies, organizes and maintains adequate spare parts to support the asset base.
  • Participate in the development of project scopes, design of systems, and functional specifications.
  • Utilizes technical materials such as equipment manuals, MSDS, safety materials, system and equipment drawings, Process and Instrument Diagrams (PID’s), schematics, and blueprints to troubleshoot and maintain systems.
  • Maintains plant documentation in accordance with management of change procedures and SAP AMM documentation.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by Management

All employees will support and participate in Nestlé Continuous Excellence (NCE) and Total Performance Management (TPM) as a part of their job responsibility within their Business Unit or as assigned within the factory.

Employee shall follow Fremont Factory safety & environmental objectives & targets, follow the plant safety rules, report unsafe conditions immediately, report incidents immediately or by the end of the shift, maintain compliance with regulations, and refer to the Safety & Environmental Management System(s) on all related procedures and programs.

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 4+ yrs HVAC with RETA CIRO Certification
  • 4+ yrs HVAC (minimum of 2 years ammonia experience within the 4+ yrs.) without RETA CIRO Certification -required to obtain the CIRO certification within a specified period of time.
  • E.P.A. certification to reclaim and recycle refrigerant is required. If individual does not currently hold the certification the expectation upon hiring is to obtain the certification.
  • RETA CIRO Certification is required. If individual does not currently hold the certification the expectation upon hiring is to obtain the certification.
  • Job requires climbing stairs, ladders, changing filters on the roof and occasionally lifting > 35 lbs.

EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in food manufacturing preferred.
  • SAP or equivalent Computerized Maintenance Management System experience preferred
  • Proficient use of computers and computer-based technologies for monitoring and troubleshooting

SKILLS:

  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Effective reading, writing, communication, and computer skills.
  • Ability to obtain necessary certifications / licenses.
  • Sound problem solving skills both in an individual and group
  • Proficient in troubleshooting HVAC and Ammonia equipment and applying appropriate countermeasures.
  • Proficient in the use of Hand Tools and Basic Power Tools (electrical and pneumatic)
  • Proficient in liquid / fluid components (valves, pipes, pumps, heat exchanger, vessels, etc.).
  • Proficient in Pneumatic and Hydraulic systems,
  • Proficient in fired and unfired heaters, air conditioners, chillers, distributions systems and ductwork.
  • Proficient in process cooling and cooling tower systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical and electronic circuits (below 480V), Controls, and Components.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation including temperature, pressure, flow, mass density
