Amuse Restaurant is a contemporary fine dining restaurant overlooking the Robins Sculpture Garden, featuring an innovative menu and fresh, local ingredients. Just like the works of art in the museum and on the walls of Amuse, visitors delight in new masterpiece dishes and cocktails.

This is a non-exempt position without benefits, eligible to work up to approximately 28 hours per week on average and up to 1,450 hours annually (May 1 – April 30).

The team works to provide reasonable and advanced-scheduling notice to staff within the agreed upon availability. We are open 365 days a year, therefore there are a variety of shifts to work. We are open for lunch service 7 days a week, and offer dinner service on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

About the Work
The work is straightforward, working together to offer an elevated dining experience.
The Amuse Floor Supervisor assists with the floor supervisor of Amuse Restaurant at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Reporting to the Amuse Management team, this “hands on” supervisory role will assist in the day-to-day operations in Amuse, a full service upscale restaurant.
Here is how the Amuse Floor Supervisor accomplishes this as part of a team:
• Sets and clears tables.
• Answers phone calls.
• Assists with booking private events.
• Seats guests.
• Acts as server/bartender/host/manager as necessary.
• Knowledgeable about Amuse menu and promotions.
• Manages daily inventory of supplies in the back-of-house.
• Knowledgeable about the museum, providing information to guests.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Assist managers with associate performance issues and reviews.
• Assist managers with scheduling as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
• Ability to manage and delegate tasks.
• Ability to field and address customer complaints.
• Ability to handle face-paced, high volume situations.
• Knowledge of various aspects of meal service and food items.
• Ability to solve problems independently.
• Ability to provide excellent customer service.
• Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions.
• Ability to work as part of a diverse team.
• Ability to take inventory of linen, glassware and other essential materials.
• Ability to solve problems independently.
• Ability to communicate instructions accurately.
• Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand or walk for up to 10 hours.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to include days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Additional Considerations
• Experience in a fast-paced, fine dining restaurant or hotel.
• Experience with reservation systems and seating charts.
• Experience with back-of-house expediting.
• Knowledgeable about a wide range of cuisine, wine, beer and other spirits.
