Summary
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for providing electrical engineering support to all New York Power Authority generating plant and transmission substations throughout the State of New York.
Responsibilities
- Assist senior staff and supervisor on a full range of electric utility design modification projects, equipment applications and failure research, engineering studies, as well as operations and maintenance activities.
- Assist in the administration on-site technical support.
- Ensure deadlines are met as assigned by supervisors.
- Assist in the coordination of work with other disciplines and departments for the successful development and execution of projects.
- Assist in the gathering of information (site, vendors and other engineers) for engineering tasks.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated basic competencies in the analysis, design and integration of electrical systems.
- Fundamental knowledge of power system concepts
- Basic understanding of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Education, Experience and Certifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, from an accredited college or university
- Basic understanding of power system theory preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Approximately 25% travel, primarily within NY State

New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The target salary range for this position is: $65,500 – $80,000. Salary offered will be determined based the successful candidates’ relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
