Job Summary:
Manages viraium operations for the Department of Nutritional Sciences with the goals of the best possible care for the animals and adherence to animal safety and welfare standards.
Responsibilities: Manages departmental personnel, animal care facility operations, care procedures, record maintenance; performs animal care duties as needed to ensure compliance with animal care regulations, and work collaboratively with partners to support research and instruction.
- 40% Directs and performs the day-to-day activities of an animal care facility, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures to align with unit objectives and strategic initiatives
- 5% Prepares, completes, audits, and documents animal care procedures, assessments, and medication administration according to established research protocols, rules and regulations
- 25% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
- 10% Monitors the unit or program budget, approves unit expenditures, and ensures funds are used appropriately
- 5% Identifies, develops, and facilitates unit staff training opportunities
- 10% Serves as the subject matter expert to unit leadership regarding unit operations and functions
- 5% Must ensure that everything related to the vivarium is in a manner that it can daily pass AAALAC, IACUC, RARC, Safety, and other inspections.

Bachelor’s Degreein biology, management or relevant field
Qualifications:
3 years experience in a rodent vivarium required.
Work Type:
Full or Part Time: 80% – 100%
It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Minimum $58,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
