The Position
We are recruiting for an Animal Services Officer I (Temporary – Full Time) $22.73 – $27.63/Hour + Medical Benefits. This recruitment is for a full-time, temporary position. Animal Control certifications are highly desirable.
Animal Services Officer I:
This is the entry level class in the Animal Services Officer series. This class is distinguished from the journey level by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within this series. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters allocated to the journey level. Employees work under direct supervision while learning assigned job tasks. As experience accrues, incumbents will perform with increasing independence. Incumbents in this job class perform general and specialized work associated with responding to citizen calls/complaints, driving van/truck throughout designated areas in the County, handling animals in a variety of situations/environments, and completing necessary documentation. Incumbents allocated to this classification must work effectively and tactfully with diverse individuals as well as handle and control animals in a safe and humane manner.

Minimum Qualifications
Animal Services Officer I:
Education: Successful completion of the equivalent of a high school diploma from an accredited institution.
Experience: At least two (2) years of progressively responsible work experience in the humane care and treatment of animals.
License: A P.O.S.T. 832 Certificate must be obtained within six (6) months from the date of hire and a Euthanasia Certificate within three (3) months from the date of hire. Possession of a valid and appropriate California state driver’s license.
