Profile of a Natick Educator
JOB GOAL:
The Data Manager reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer and is responsible for managing a team of individuals to assist the town and schools in ensuring safe, secure, and efficient operations of the town’s MUNIS Financial System, the School Department’s Powerschool Student Information System, and various other third party data systems. This includes daily team management of goals and deliverables that align with town and school priorities, ensuring processes are in place for all routine functions and tasks including but not limited to; data collection and entry, internal/external reporting, data integrity, data privacy, and data security, system integration and interoperability, business continuity and disaster recovery planning and testing, recommending and implementing enhancements, facilitating working group meetings, attending vendor user group meetings, training end users, and working closely with all stakeholders and vendors to ensure continuous improvements are implemented.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field along with progressive experience managing a small team of data analysts.
Experience with relational databases export, transform, and import functions, third-party API integrations and reporting packages, and standard query language.
Team player that can effectively manage multiple priorities.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.

- Thorough understanding of and commitment to the principles and practices of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice as they relate to student, staff, and community engagement and cultivation
Preferred Experience:
- Munis and PowerSchool experience is highly desirable.
- Experience with Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classroom, etc.)
- Experience with Rostering systems like Clever or Classlink preferred.
Skills:
- Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed
- Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish and Portuguese, are highly desirable
- Candidates should have a passion for working with students, families, and colleagues

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB (not limited to)

- Primary responsibility is overseeing the day-to-day priorities and goal setting of the team to ensure support and availability of all database systems used by the town and school department. Coach, mentor and evaluate the performance of each team member.
- Look for opportunities and take action to further automate, integrate and eliminate manual processes and procedures. Develop a culture and road map of continuous improvement.
- Manage the setup of all user accounts (internal and external) within all database systems to ensure the appropriate level of access is granted and security best practices are implemented and maintained.
- Create and maintain documentation of all critical workflows and processes. Evaluate each of these for data integrity, data privacy, and data security.
- Develop and implement strategies and procedures for effective data management. Create rules for data sharing and adhere to all local, federal, and state laws regarding data privacy and data protection.
- Ensure reliable backups are conducted and tested on a regular basis. Develop and maintain a written and tested plan for Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery to mitigate our risks of data breaches and/or system failures.
- Use our ticketing system to track all issues reported and follow up; from discovery until resolution.
- Serve as a resource and a trainer to other members of the team and all stakeholders to ensure all requests and needs are resolved in a timely manner.
- Work on and manage special projects as assigned by the Chief Technology Officer.
- Remain current on industry trends in information technology, investigate new technologies, and make recommendations to the Chief Technology Officer.
- Works with district and school leadership to combat systemic barriers that limit student, family, and staff members’ equitable access to opportunity
