YOUR ROLE

Select individual will manage technical projects and technical support for a sales team focused on sales of adhesive products to the Furniture and Building Components marketplace. Such technical support entails product evaluation, application process review, customer component testing, adhesive recommendations, maintaining lab equipment, and overseeing safety. The successful Applications Engineer will effectively interface regularly with all levels of Henkel as well periodic customer organizations, requiring exceptional communication skills.

  • Supports the Regional Market,
  • Key Account Managers (KAMs) and
  • Application Engineering Field Team
  • Trained in the test protocols and interpretation for the relevant markets and develops new methods when needed.
  • Prioritizes and carries out concurrent testing in the laboratory based on incoming requests and projects.
  • Technical liaison to the business (e.g. PD, Manufacturing, Marketing, etc.)
  • Performance Expectations
  • Demonstrate expertise in the Furniture and Building Components industry and Henkel products
  • Exhibit creative and positive problem – solving skills
  • Must maintain high level of energy and professionalism on the job
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with cross-functional teams
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality as to company’s areas of interest and technologies
  • Responsibility for completing Customer / Sales Technical Request (STR) Testing and reporting within the technical database
  • Responsible for running and ensuring laboratory and application equipment are calibrated and safety checked in compliance with local regulations as well as standardizing and developing new test methods
  • Prepares internal and /or customer ready reports and makes presentations to internal work group or departments as necessary.
  • Facilitates customer site visits, and participates in presentations to customers during such visits.
  • Responsible for leading internal and external technical requests and projects
  • Responsible for directly communicating with the field Sales/Application engineering teams, KAMs or project team.
  • Leads harmonization and administration of laboratory test methods
  • Runs and performs customer lab demonstrations using application equipment (internal and external)
  • Participates in training of Sales / Marketing and other Technical personnel (external focus)
  • Uses standardized templates as required for performance tracking
  • Works effectively on specific projects as required and assigned, assists with quality and complaint resolution as requested

  • Up-to-date computer skills including business typing skills, strong literacy in Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word and Power Point Frequently sit, view a computer screen, and type on a keyboard for extended periods of times Verbally communicate one-on-one and in front of groups Occasionally may be required to reach, squat, bend and lift-up to 50 lbs. Periodic travel up to 30%, requiring a valid driver license and valid passport

Education & Professional Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in a technical or business discipline
  • 5+ years of experience within Henkel or at least 3 years relevant experience in furniture, building components or a similar industry, and a progressive record of self-starting results.
  • Up-to-date computer skills including business typing skills, strong literacy in Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Commensurate communication and relationship-building skills

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently sit, view a computer screen, and type on a keyboard for extended periods of times
  • Verbally communicate one-on-one and in front of groups
  • Occasionally may be required to reach, squat, bend and lift-up to 50 lbs.

The salary for this role is $55,000 – $80,000. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
