Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking an Application Support Technical Team Lead (“Team Lead”) to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. The qualified applicant will be a member of the Department of State (DOS) Consular Affairs Enterprise Infrastructure Operations (CAEIO) Program for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). The CAEIO Program provides IT Operations and Maintenance to modernize the legacy networks, applications, and databases supporting CA services globally.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership to a team of 20+ Technical Support Specialists and Engineers
- Lead team in all phases of operations and maintaining the CA environment
- Work with Enterprise Infrastructure Operations (EIO) database and infrastructure teams, other contractor teams and partner organizations to establish and maintain CA systems
- Perform root cause analysis and document all existing and potential problems and outages associated with corrective actions
- Ensure that all problems/incidents are logged into the Ticket Management System and managed
- Participate in planning meetings to execute proactive system upgrades and new technology implementations
- Update government task manager (GTM) on production issues and initiatives
- Identifyopportunities to automate routine processes
Specific areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
Standard Operating Procedures
- Review SOPs for procedures related to maintaining CA operational capability
- Work with staff to document procedures
Team Leadership
- Ensure team members are trained in procedures and responsibilities
- Ensures team members are actively monitoring system and responding to incidents as reported. Special attention paid to systems that are not part of automatic monitoring
Monitoring
- Identify CA components that can be monitored by with Zabbix/Grafana/Splunk dashboards and alerts, or other systems as identified
- Coordinate with monitoring team on updates to CA servers and configurations that affect monitoring services (new/removed servers, sites)
Deployments
- Coordinate with development and database teams on planning and implementation of upgraded or new components
- Maintain list of scheduled production events – ensure timing does not conflict with operations requirements
- Provide required notifications of upcoming deployments
Reporting
- Provide weekly activity report of recent and upcoming activity. Identify issues that need to be addressed with the client.
- Provide weekly supplements of any incidents handled by staff
- Provide daily notification of today’s activities, on-going or just-completed incidents, and imminent upcoming events
Schedule:
3rd Shift (11:00 PM ET – 7:00 AM ET). Weekend work required
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
- Requires US Citizenship and at a minimum an active SECRETGovernment Security Clearance with the ability to obtain TOP SECRET
- Bachelor’s Degree and 10 years of experience, including at least five years of experience in application support*
- Deep understanding of Tier 2 Windows and/or Linux OS installation and configuration issues
- Understanding of multi-tier applications that interface with RDMSs (relational database management systems) such as Oracle
- Experience working with custom applications and troubleshooting issues in a client server environment
- Ability to Support Service Now tickets related to Department of State, Consular Affairs systems and applications
- Experience working with web-based applications running on Apache and/or IIS.
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with the following skills and experrience will receive preferential consideration:
- Experience working with Department of State
- Experience working with Salesforce application installations and troubleshooting
- Experience working with Open Shift container / application environment
- Experience working application support and deployments in a cloud environment
*Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 10-12 years of experience; Master’s degree and 8-10 years of experience; Phd and 5-7 years of experience.

Target Salary Range
$104,000 – $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
