WORK STYLE DESIGNATION: Hybrid – Bos

EXPECTED PAY RANGE: $72,451 – $99,620

This pay range is for the position’s base salary only. This position may be eligible for other compensation including incentive pay and/or allowances. Candidates will receive additional information during the interview and selection process.

Summary

The Applications Engineer is responsible for providing technical support and product information to the sales and service teams, as well as our customers, to enable the company to meet customers’ needs and achieve sales plans. The primary product lines include Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES), X-Ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy (XRF), and Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS).

Specific responsibilities will include developing related applications, performing instrument demonstrations, pre/post-sales support, customer support, and webinars. The Applications Engineer will communicate and work with the sales team to promote and demonstrate products to potential customers. Must attend and participate in conferences, exhibitions, and industry shows. Domestic traveling is required with some international travel.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop application notes for the appropriate product line.
  • Generate reports for customers on their specific application.
  • Effectively communicate technical requirements to both customers and members of the sales team.
  • Review new instrument orders and pre installation documents to assure the correct instrument configuration.
  • Provide sales staff with technical information in order to help them respond to customer issues and questions.
  • Conduct technical product training on instruments and applications for internal staff and customers.
  • Perform instrument demonstrations to customers in support of system sales.
  • Analyze customer samples for sales opportunities and technical support.
  • Assist internal staff and customers with technical support and application issues.
  • Review customer application needs with sales staff.

Education

  • B.S. in Physics, Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or related field.

Experience and Travel Requirements

  • 1-5 years of industry experience preferred.
  • Experience in the field of Metallurgy strongly preferred.
  • Experience in foundry, or manufacturing, industries preferred.
  • Domestic and International Travel estimated at 25%.
  • Proven knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong and excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have organizational, analytical, problem solving and customer relation skills.
  • Ability to speak and present in front of audiences, classes, or educators.
  • Thorough and proven knowledge of laboratory practices/safety, procedures, and equipment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a strong work ethic and willingness to work as a team with others.
  • Ability to work independently.
