About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Applied Scientist to join the paid marketing measurement team. This role will be closely working with Engineering and Product to build the paid measurement platform, which will enable the Applied Science team to support investment decisions and channel optimization for paid marketing. An ideal candidate needs to have a proven ability to successfully apply rigorous scientific methods and extensive experience in scalable data workflows.
What You Will Do
– Closely collaborate with Engineering, Product, and business teams to build scalable solutions for paid marketing including LTV predictions, channel incrementally, and marketplace measurement
– Develop a deep understanding of paid marketing channel strategies, conversion tracking, attribution & optimization technologies, and build a robust measurement framework
– Partner with internal customers including Operations, Finance, Product, and the Channel team to develop paid marketing strategies
– Collaborate with other science teams in marketing and other orgs to improve Uber’s measurement solutions
Basic Qualifications
– Ph.D., M.S., or Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Machine Learning, Operations Research, or other quantitative fields
– Knowledge of underlying mathematical foundations of statistics, machine learning, optimization, economics, and analytics
– Advanced knowledge and experience in experiment design and analysis
– Ability to use Python to work efficiently at scale with large data sets
– Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail
– Proficiency in languages and tools like SQL, Python, R
– Experience with big data using technologies like Hadoop, Hive, and Spark
Preferred Qualifications
– Ph.D. degree in a quantitative field with 2+ years of working experience as an applied scientist
– Previous experience in advertising tech and/or working with product and engineering teams to build scalable measurement solutions
– Meaningful work experience in applying sophisticated analytics applied science, or causal inference to marketing problems
– Hunger and drive to learn complex topics quickly

For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $149,000 per year – $165,500 per year.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $149,000 per year – $165,500 per year.
For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $149,000 per year – $165,500 per year.
For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber’s bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
