ABOUT THE ROLE
The Electric Line Apprentice Instructor will teach classes in GSWC’s Department of Labor-approved lineman apprenticeship programs. The apprenticeship training program includes underground and overhead distribution, transmission and substation disciplines. The Instructor must understand how these disciplines work together and is expected to provide trainees with the support they need to learn and excel in the trade.

Essential Functions
- Develop, organize, conduct and evaluate technical training programs
- Document training, assess effectiveness and progress, report on progress, and make changes to training as needed
- Teach approved apprenticeship curriculum to Apprentices in both classroom and field settings
- Build successful relationships with a diverse group of Apprentices as they work towards their Journeyman certifications
- Demonstrate proper technique in performing each maneuver being taught
- Develop and maintain training manuals
- Conduct onsite evaluations of team member skillset and help address areas of needed improvement
- Provide real-life context to the theories and situations being taught
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Other duties as assigned
- Essential Functions of this position are to be performed at a company-designated office or field location
- Understand and comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standards, if applicable
ABOUT YOU
Qualifications
- Must be a Journeyman Lineman (minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Journeyman)
- Prior experience as a Journeyman Lineman in at least two of the following areas: overhead/underground distribution, transmission and or substation construction
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to travel locally/regionally up to 15% of the time
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Advanced knowledge of transmission line construction, substation construction, distribution construction, and renewable energy projects
- Presentation skills, with ability to develop and mentor others
- Passion for training and developing others and representing the GSW brand with positivity and professionalism
- Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices at all times
- Ability to climb poles to demonstrate proper technique
- Ability to teach in a classroom lecture setting utilizing PowerPoint and other resources.
- Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through GSWC training methods and practices
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
- Good problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
WHAT WE OFFER
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary $70000-$10500 / year
- Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
