AQUATIC CENTER
- Cashier (Recreation Leader): $15.75-$17.36/hour
- Party Leader (Recreation Leader): $15.75-$17.36/hour
- Facility Maintenance Worker (Recreation Leader): $15.75-$17.36/hour
- Slide Operator (Recreation Leader): $15.75-$17.36/hour
We are looking for someone to
Aquatic Center Cashier & Facility Maintenance Worker:
- Ability to work without immediate supervision, follow directions and be self motivated.
Slide Operator:
Under immediate supervision, ensure:
- That patrons conduct themselves in a safe and orderly manner,
- That patrons move into and out of the splash pool in a quick and orderly manner.
- Control running, horseplay and other unsafe behaviors on the pool deck
- Confirm that all patrons meet requirements to go down the slide.
Party Leader:
Under immediate supervision:
- Assist with various parties and special events, while providing quality customer service to all patrons of the Redding Aquatic Center.
- Ability to accept and coordinate party reservations, conduct and oversee youth activities during designated programs.

Qualifications we’re looking for
Aquatic Center Cashier & Facility Maintenance Worker:
- Must possess or be willing to acquire First Aid and CPR/AED Adult with CPR Child/Infant certification and a California Food Handler Card.
- The Basic Water Rescue certificate is highly desirable.
- The ideal candidate will be reliable and able to lead or implement activities and work with staff and customers.
Slide Operator:
- Must possess or be willing to acquire First Aid and CPR/AED & Basic Water Rescue.
- Lifeguard Certificate highly desirable.
Party Leader:
- Must possess or be willing to acquire First Aid and CPR/AED.
- The ideal candidate will be an outgoing fun leader, who will take pride in assisting with Aquatic Center special events, pro activities, programs, and events.

Examination Process: An oral board interview, written examination, practical exercise, or any combination thereof, will be administered.
This recruitment will add to an existing eligibility list that may be used to fill current and future vacancies.
Selection Process: Final appointment is contingent upon:
- Passing a city paid fingerprint criminal conviction check (applicants 18 and older).
- Passing a pre-employment medical exam and drug and alcohol screening test.
Veteran’s Credit: Applicants who attach a copy of the DD-214 to their application indicating “Honorable Discharge” from military service and receive a passing score on the examination process will have two (2) additional points added to their final examination score.

Holidays:
An average of thirteen and a half per year. Fire Association covered employees receive a payment in lieu of holidays. Holiday compensation for Redding Peace Officers Association and Redding Police Managers Association employees has been converted to base pay.
Vacation:
Two weeks per year up to the fourth year of service, three weeks up to nine years of service, three and a half weeks up to fourteen years of service, four weeks up to nineteen years of service, four and a half weeks up to twenty-four years of service, five weeks after twenty-four years of service. For accrual rates for Fire Department shift employees, refer to MOU. Part-time and temporary employees may be eligible for some vacation/paid time off benefits.
Sick Leave:
Twelve working days of sick leave are accrued each year. Unused sick leave may be credited toward retirement. For accrual rates for Fire Department shift employees, refer to MOU.
Health Insurance:
Excellent medical, dental, vision, and life for employee and dependent, and long-term disability for employees.
Retirement:
Full-time employees are covered by CalPERS (formula is dependent on hire date and member status in CalPERS) and are not covered under the Social Security System.
Administrative Leave:
Management positions are eligible to receive 40 hours of administrative leave per calendar year as authorized by the department director; additional leave up to 40 hours may be granted by the City Manager.
Deferred Compensation Plans:
Available for interested employees.
Union Dues: Job classifications in the unrepresented group do not pay union dues.
Part-Time Retirement Benefit Program:
Part-time, seasonal, and full-time temporary employees either participate in the Social Security System or the PARS Alternate Retirement System depending upon bargaining unit assignment.
SDI:
Unrepresented positions do not participate in SDI.
