Position Summary
The Town of Breckenridge Recreation Department is seeking a dedicated and customer service oriented individual for the position of Aquatics Facility Operator. This position supervises and leads the operation, maintenance and staffing of the aquatic facilities at the Recreation Center. Individuals in this position are responsible for leadership of the lifeguard staff and overseeing the safety of guests in and around the aquatics area. A primary role of the Aquatics Facility Operator is monitoring, configuration and troubleshooting of pump room and aquatic mechanical systems, including preventative maintenance and repairs. The Aquatics Facility Operator performs and leads staff in daily preventative maintenance tasks and lifeguard surveillance. Responsibilities include water balancing, chemical handling, routine pump room maintenance, and safety checks on equipment and play features. Other responsibilities include leading in-service trainings, scheduling staff, assisting in aquatic program development and implementation, and opening and closing the pool area.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age, with a high school diploma.
- College degree in Recreation, Business, Sports Management, or related area preferred.
- Previous lifeguard experience and basic knowledge of water chemistry testing kits.
- Two or more years of customer service required.
- Two or more years of aquatics experience in a lead or supervisory role preferred.
- To qualify for this position, the candidate or employee must pass a criminal background check as described in the Recreation Department Criminal History Background Check & Confidentiality Policy.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR EQUIPMENT REQUIRED
- Community CPR, first aid and AED training required within 30 days of hire.
- Preventing Disease Transmission (PDT) required within 60 days of hire.
- Valid Colorado Driver’s license required for any employees where driving would be a component of the position.
- Current appropriate nationally recognized certifications (i.e. American Red Cross), including Lifeguard, First Aid, AED, CPR for the professional rescuer, and oxygen delivery for the professional rescuer are required and must be maintained.
Additional Information
Hiring Range: $27.00 – $31.00 per hour, $56,160.00 – $64,480.00 if annualized
Full Pay Range: $27.00 – $35.00 per hour, $56,160.00 – $72,800.00 if annualized

WORK SCHEDULE
The work schedule for this position varies widely, dependent upon operational and staffing needs. The individual in this position must be flexible in terms of availability and may be required to work shifts as needed to meet business needs, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
