The City of North Las Vegas announces a posting to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Aquatics Maintenance Technician. This vacancy is in the Neighborhood & Leisure Services. The eligibility list will be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification, for up to one hundred twenty (120) days.
Part-time/temporary employees and external candidates may apply for this recruitment. Part-time/temporary employees and external candidates who successfully complete the qualification assessment process will be placed on an external list, which may be used to fill vacancies, after the appropriate recruitment section of the collective bargaining agreement has been followed. If the vacancy is not filled through promotion by full-time employees, the next opportunity for placement will be to hire qualified part-time/temporary employees and external candidates.

• Pay – The starting hourly pay for this position is $23.13 (step 1). All new employees hired for this position will start at step 1 of the range; no exceptions.
• Work Schedule – Monday – Thursday or Wednesday – Saturday, 5:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
• Working Conditions – Working mostly outdoors in an environment with exposure to all typical weather conditions, including travel from site to site, and indoors within various building facilities. Required to wear personal protective equipment while performing tasks.
• Selection Process – Oral Panel Interview: 100% Passing score: 70%
THE ROLE:
Performs semi-skilled technical work in the repair, maintenance, and installation of irrigation systems in parks, sports fields, trails, streetscapes areas, and other municipal locations. Performs minor landscape maintenance and janitorial duties at park and recreation facilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
• High School diploma or equivalent; and
• Two years of responsible experience performing commercial and/or municipal swimming pool maintenance.
• Any combination of education, training, and experience, which provides knowledge, skills, and abilities, required for the job and related to the essential functions of this position.
Licenses and Certifications:
• Must possess a valid state driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record with the ability to obtain an appropriate Nevada state driver’s license in the required time frame; maintaining a satisfactory motor vehicle record for the duration of employment.
• Complete an OSHA-10 course in construction/general industry safety and health hazard recognition and prevention within 15 calendar days after hire. Completion card must be continuously maintained while employed in this classification.
• Obtain Nevada State Commercial Driver’s License Class B within 1 year of hire or reclassification.
• Must possess one of the following credentials at the time of application:
o Swimming Pool Service Technician or Qualified Pool Operator through Southern Nevada Health District; or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certificate;
o Or an Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certificate form the National Swimming Pool Foundation, National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), or Independent Pool Service Association
