How you’ll make a difference:
The Sr Product Development Engineer, Orthobiologics is responsible for collaborating with Scientists, Product Development/Project Engineers and/ or Operations to execute the requirements of new product development, specifically in the Orthobiologics field. This includes developing concepts in the laboratory, prototyping new devices/instruments, verification/validation testing, manufacturing process design, and technology transfer to manufacturing. The Sr Product Development Engineer will be expected to contribute to process improvements and maintaining Quality standards in manufacturing/operations. The Sr Product Development Engineer, Orthobiologics will provide solutions to complex technical problems under general supervision from senior engineering/scientific staff.
Your key responsibilities:
The following are the essential functions of this position. This position may be responsible for performing additional duties as tasks as needed and assigned.
- Working within a project team to contribute original concepts for new product development in Orthobiologics and translate these concepts into prototypes
- Execute requirements of new product development project plans within a Design Control environment with creativity, resourcefulness and accountability to timelines and budgets
- May include significant laboratory work, for example to develop manufacturing processes, fabricate prototypes and test prototypes
- Verify that designs meet functional and performance specifications, such as may include both in vitro and in vivo testing models
- Interface with vendors and/or Manufacturing/Operations on technical issues while supervising designs throughout the manufacturing process
- Significant involvement in design transfer to Manufacturing/Operations and on-going support after commercialization
- Effectively interact with interdepartmental personnel and teams such as, Marketing, Purchasing, and Operations to uphold project plans and achieve project objectives

Education/Certifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in combination with relevant experience
Experience, Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities:
- Sr Product Development Engineer has 3-6 years’ experience in medical devices
- Demonstrated contributions to new product development and relevant testing or analytical methods
- General understanding, or some experience with relevant manufacturing processes and/or significant interaction with manufacturing vendors
- Must be willing and able to travel domestically as needed, up to 20%
- Must be able to work at both Irvine and Carlsbad locations when needed
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in Orthobiologics or regenerative technologies
Education/Certifications:
- Master’s Degree in Science or Engineering

Salaried Employees: The anticipated salary for this position is $109,404.90 to $131,352.54 per year, plus bonus and benefits. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type and years of experience within the industry, education, etc.
