Architectural Designer II

Cuningham seeks an Architectural Designer (licensed/non-licensed) to join our themed entertainment team, to share in our vision to dream big, be daring, and create change. The Entertainment + Hospitality Team specializes in theme park, attraction, theater, retail, restaurant, resort/hotel, casino, and large-scale immersive and interactive exhibits, for some of the world’s leading themed entertainment and hospitality companies.

The successful candidate will have 2+ years of experience in themed entertainment or hospitality related design. They should be highly motivated and thrive in a collaborative environment. What you will do

    • Engage in developing design solutions, coordination, and production efforts on a wide range of projects through all phases of the design, in an iterative and collaborative design process through simple sketching, 2D and 3D modeling, as well as computational methods in alignment with project success metrics.
    • Apply regenerative approaches to design and performance of the built, social, and natural environments.
    • Plan, develop, and participate in design presentations.
    • Develop and document projects through both creative design and technical detailing.
    • Collaborate with related disciplines (consultants and contractors) for best design outcomes.
    • Coordinate BIM models and documentation internally and with consultants, contractors, etc.
    • Participate in construction administration activities with Project Architect and on-site staff.
    • Assist project management and design teams with on-site observations and verifications.
    • Be accountable for quality work in assigned focus area of the project.
    • Build awareness and engage with: Rhino, Enscape, Lumion.
    • Participate in code review.
    • Research exterior materials and products.
    • Research and become proficient with wall assemblies, waterproofing and vertical circulation.
    • Support and perform exterior massing studies.
    • Support and perform site studies with LA.
    • Support and perform interior space planning and programming with ID.
    • Coordinate with Specifications team.

What we look for

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture.
    • 2+ years’ experience working hospitality or themed entertainment projects preferred.
    • Proficient with MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, Revit/BIM 360.
    • Strong communication skills with teams in order to build professional relationships across the firm
    • Exhibits daily discipline and time management skills towards meeting deadlines.
    • Leads with curiosity and creativity, ready to solve the design problems at hand.

$63,500 – $94,000 a year

Compensation commensurate with experience, capabilities, licensure/certification, and location of residence.
