Proper Hospitality seeking a dynamic and results-driven Area Event Sales Manager to join our growing corporate team in Los Angeles.
In this role, you will be responsible for driving revenue through the successful acquisition of events and functions at both Santa Monica Proper Hotel and Downtown L.A. Proper Hotel, aligning with each property’s high standards of luxury and excellence. As the Area Event Sales Manager, you will work closely with internal teams and external clients to meet revenue targets and contribute to the overall success of our properties.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive event sales strategy for the designated hotels to achieve revenue goals and market share targets
- Identify and cultivate new business opportunities within the local and regional market, targeting corporate clients, social event planners and other potential event organizers
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, influencers and stakeholders to generate a steady stream of event leads
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create compelling sales collateral, presentations and proposals that showcase the hotels’ unique offerings and align with the luxury brand image
- Conduct thorough research on market trends, competitor activities and industry best practices to identify new revenue streams and enhance the hotels’ competitive advantage
- Utilize your extensive network and sales expertise to negotiate and close event contracts that align with the hotels’ pricing and revenue strategies
- Coordinate and collaborate with internal teams including Banquets, Catering, Food & Beverage, and Rooms Division to ensure seamless event execution (though this role is primarily focused on the sales aspect, not event servicing)
- Regularly track and report on sales performance, lead generation, conversion rates and other key metrics to the senior management team
- Provide training, mentorship, and guidance to junior sales colleagues to enhance their skills and support their professional growth
- Represent the hotels at industry events, trade shows and networking functions to increase brand visibility and establish valuable partnerships
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality, Sales, or related field preferre
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive sales experience in the luxury hotel or hospitality industry, with a proven track record of exceeding sales targets.
- Strong existing network within the local and regional event planning community is highly desirable
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and maintain relationships with a diverse range of clients and partners
- Exceptional negotiation and presentation skills to effectively communicate the value proposition of the hotels to potential clients
- Self-motivated, proactive and results-oriented individual with a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences
- Proficiency in using sales and CRM software for lead tracking and reporting
- Flexibility to travel as required for client meetings, industry events, and training purposes
