Career Opportunity: Artistic Coordinator with Cincinnati Opera
Cincinnati Opera is seeking an experienced individual to become a full-time, exempt member of the Artistic department as the Artistic Coordinator. Cincinnati Opera presents large- and small-scale operas in multiple venues in the city of Cincinnati during an intense Summer Festival season comprised of four fully staged presentations, the Concert in the Park and other events. Outside of the Summer Festival the company produces a number of new works workshops, under the umbrella of Opera Fusion: New Works (OF:NW).
Compensation
This is a full-time, exempt position with an annual salary range from $43,000- $50,000, commensurate with experience. Job Description
The Artistic Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Artistic Operations and serves as the company’s primary new works facilitator. This job description represents the essential functions of the position, but is not all inclusive. Additional duties reasonably related to the position may be assigned.
Year-round responsibilities include:
- Provide administrative support to Artistic Director and Director of Artistic Operations as it relates to OF:NW and commissions
- Coordinate logistics related to OF:NW projects and commissions
- Project management of OF:NW projects and commissions
- Assist Director of Artistic Operations with libretto and score proofing
- Track and evaluate submissions of new works, composers, and librettists
- Plan and track travel for OF:NW projects and commissions
- Assist with audition coordination
- With Director of Artistic Operations and Company Manager, coordinate daily artist needs (transportation, grocery runs, scheduling doctor/ENT appointments, general communication)
- Provide rehearsal and artistic support as necessary during rehearsals and/or performances and COA events.
- Assist with artistic reimbursement of expenses and any other administrative need outlined in artists contracts
- Assist Production and Rehearsal Departments during summer season (daily schedule, artist liaison, etc.).
- Create and manage supertitles for all COA projects
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years working experience in music administration and/or artistic administration
- Bachelor’s Degree in Music or equivalent skill, with the ability to read music
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, facility with spreadsheet development and database management
- Strong organizational skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to self-motivate, prioritize, and work independently
- Ability to handle multiple projects and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Disposition for working well on a team and dealing fluently with a wide variety of artists and colleagues
- Familiarity with and appreciation of classical music, specifically opera and musical theater, preferred
