Job Description:
Student employees for this position must:
- Be a current University of Florida full-time student in good standing with at least a 2.0+ GPA
- Respond to and assist with emergency situations and building evacuations per department procedures or as instructed by building management staff
- Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a high level of professionalism
- Demonstrate a desire and willingness to learn in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
- Establish an exemplary work ethic by being proactive, self-motivated, and dependable
- Participate in all scheduled meetings, trainings, and evaluations
- Possess the ability to work weekends, evenings, holidays and academic breaks, as needed
- Act as an ambassador for all areas within the Reitz Union, as well as the University of Florida, providing accurate information and campus resources
Position Specific Responsibilities:
- Assists patrons with arts and crafts projects as well as assists with arts and crafts activities during special events, GatorNights and demonstrations
- Serve as cashier on point of sale register and reconcile daily reports
- Maintain, organize, and inventory all equipment and work spaces within the Arts and Crafts Center
- Monitor patrons using equipment to ensure they are using equipment safely
- Complete all training requirements upon being hired in a timely fashion
- Ability to commit to working 10 or more hours per week
- Must be physically able to lift 45 pounds
- Other duties as assigned
Expected Salary:
$12.00 per hour
Minimum Requirements:
- This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through Other Personnel Services (OPS) or Federal Work-Study (FWS) and must maintain a 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.
- Ability to lift up to 45lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Although no experience is necessary to apply and all training will be provided, we would prefer for all student employee candidates:
- In addition to Spring of 2024; Summer of 2024 availability is preferred
- Demonstrate creative abilities in various forms such as crafting or art
- Previous experience with customer service
- Proficient with verbal and written communication
- Exhibit prior cash handling skills and reconciliation
- Demonstrate arts and crafts skills
- CPR and First Aid Certified, or willing to obtain
