Key Role Responsibilities:
Our Alternatives business within Asset Servicing is responsible for providing custody, fund administration, transfer agency, and other related solutions to more than 500 of the world’s premier alternative investment managers, spanning hedge funds, private equity, private credit, real estate, and other real assets.
We are seeking an Application Development Group Manager to join our world-class Alternatives Technology team at our global headquarters in TriBeCa, New York, NY.
As we invest in new digital solutions to support these high-growth and dynamic asset classes, the Application Development Group Manager is responsible for strategic deliverables that support development of new point solutions and platforms related to the alternative investment ecosystem. The individual will lead these efforts for Alternatives Technology within our market-leading Asset Servicing business and function as the primary point for coordinating development with key partners, including across BNY Mellon’s broader collection of businesses and solutions.

Responsibilities include:
- Lead a team of engineers and be responsible for all phases of the systems development and implementation process
- Provide analysis, design, development, testing and ongoing support for the application systems in an environment of diverse development platforms, computing environments, software, hardware, technology and tools
- Act as a hands-on engineer across the entire software stack, directly developing and maintaining software solutions
- Analyze organization needs and make recommendations for application development
- Interface with clients to ensure systems developed meet specific business requirements
- Oversee application programming and analysis projects which include development, installation, and maintenance of application programs
- Interface regularly with clients and project managers to provide updates and solicit requirements.
- Ensure availability, integrity, and stability of production systems by identifying appropriate resources to manage all systems and having a process in place to respond to problems with expediency
- Set, communicate, and ensure strict adherence to development and quality standards
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience required; advanced degree preferred
- A minimum of 10+ years hands-on full stack technology (Java and/or .Net), system analyst analysis and design experience
- Experience with N-tiered technology in a robust, heterogeneous environment
- Messaging experience (IBM MQ a plus)
- Experience with data pipeline technologies (Kafka a plus)
- Program development with related supervisory/management experience
- Financial services experience, preferably in securities services, fund and asset administration, alternative investing, fintech or wealth management
- Agile development experience required
- Strong technical and communication skills required

BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $111,000 and $230,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
