Western New Mexico University is a member of the Lone Star Conference, who invites applications for to become the next Assistant Athletic Director of Sport Communications and Digital Design. This position will serve as the primary sports information departmental contact for multiple sports.
General Summary: Provides planning and coordinating of all facets of the athletic department’s sport communications and digital designs, while being the liaison between the athletic department, and the media and public. Runs operations related to game-day statistics and staffing of officials, while coordinating the stadium press box, volleyball and basketball scorer’s table, and softball press box. Maintains and updates athletic website, and all other athletic social media outlets. Serves as a host to donors, VIPs, the community and local and state government.
Functions: – Works on a daily basis providing department related information to the public through various avenues. – Write press releases, news releases, media guides, game programs and game recaps, as well as feature stories for various publications and/or media outlets. – Develops graphics, videos and other visual pieces to share information online, via social media and through other channels. – Runs all ticketing operations to include design, printing and game-day distribution. – Have a working knowledge of Adobe Suite (including but not limited to Photoshop, InDesign Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and Lightroom), as well as experience in specialty programs like StatCrew, NCAA LiveStats, Neptune and/or other similar web design programs. – Staff officials for home games by hiring and managing scorekeepers, statisticians and team assistants. Other game day duties are handling media credentials, hire officials and provide scouts with the information they need. – Assist with the physical set-up of equipment for events throughout the Athletic Facilities and Brancheau Building. – Acts as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee advisor planning and operating functions critical for the student-athlete voice and experience. – Responsible for working with campus police to ensure proper planning, safety and security for the ticket cash boxes – Maintains positive working relationship with College employees and outsourced constituents directly involved with the operation of the College athletic facilities. – Supervise a staff of interns, federal work-study students, volunteers and provide training to all involved. – Ensure officials and outside help are assigned properly and payment of services. – Assists administration with revising and creating athletic department policies and procedures – Direct supervision of selected athletic programs Men’s and Women’s Tennis and Cross Country – Assist in the planning and preparation of internal and external events. – Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Qualifications:
Required Degree(s): Master’s degree (or within 1 year of completion)
Required Licensure(s): Valid, insurable driver’s license

Work Schedule?:
This is a full time, exempt, benefits eligible position. Normal office hours are 8:00am – 4:30pm, flexible to the needs of the department. Evening, weekend, and holiday event work required as the schedule dictates, or as assigned by the Director of Athletics
