Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Sports Medicine, the Assistant Athletic Trainer Intern will coordinate at a high-level athletic injury prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation for VCU intercollegiate student-athletes. The employee is required to keep accurate records of all treatments for athletic injuries and organize the training room. Works with another staff athletic trainer collaboratively to provide care for the track and field program.
Minimum hiring standards include:
-Bachelor’s degree;
-Experience working with collegiate athletics;
-Valid driver’s license and ability to drive University vehicles;
-CurrentCPR/AED/First Aid certifications andNATABOCcertification;
-Employee must be eligible for the Virginia Athletic Trainer License;
-Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do as a staff member atVCU; and
-Able to work independently, as well as part of a team, in a multi-tasking environment, with a strong sense of principles and ethics in regard to the welfare of the student-athletes.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, which include nights and weekends; and
-Experience working with track and field student-athletes.
VCU Athletics will pay for Virginia licensure, BOC maintenance, continuing education, NATA and CATS membership.
