Recreation and Parks Department:
Athletic Supervisor (Part-Time, without benefits working less than 19 hours per week)
Hourly Rate: $14.38

General Statement of Duties
Performs technical duties related to the daily operation of a Athletic Site; does related work as required.
Essential Job Functions
- Enforce all Statesville Recreation and parks Department rules, regulations, and policies
- Maintain order and discipline at the athletic sites
- Perform visual check of grounds, facilities, and equipment noting any irregularities, damage, safety hazards, etc.; report problems daily to supervisor
- Police grounds and facilities periodically to ensure department rules, regulations and policies are being followed
- Ensure all equipment is anchored and/or stored properly before opening/closing of park
- Ensure bathroom facilities are stocked with proper accessories and locked at closing
- Maintain an adequately stocked first aid kit and ensure emergency phones operational
- Supervise park and facility rentals ensuring that only properly rented fields and facilities are being used by the correct organization/group
- Assess and determine when conditions demand closing fields and facilities (weather, equipment problems, safety issues, etc.)
- Contact designated full-time staff of the Recreations and parks Department when conditions demand closing field and/or facilities; close fields and/or facilities if directed by this employee
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Some knowledge of community recreational practices; some knowledge and understanding of traditional youth and adult sports and equipment used; ability to develop and maintain a good relationship with the public served and co-workers; a liking and understanding of children, young people and adults; good physical condition.
Acceptable Experience and Training
Preferably some customer service experience working with people of all ages; experience working with young people in organized activities and completion of a standard high school course, supplemented by at least two years of college course work in physical education, recreation, sociology, or closely related field, preferably college graduation; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
This position is seasonal and is not eligible for overtime pay.
