Description

URM Stores is currently looking for an organized and enthusiastic Assistant Controller/Assistant Secretary who will report to the Controller/Assist Treasurer. Our Assistant Controller/Assistant Secretary is an essential part of the corporate Accounting team and is responsible for overseeing the activities of the Accounts Payable and Records Management Departments and provides support to the Controller/Assistant Treasurer in the preparation of financial statements, compliance reporting, planning and coordination of budgets, and collaborating with external auditors.

What Your Day-to-Day would look like as our Procurement Manager:

  • Monitor the accounts payable system and assist the accounts payable supervisor with day-to-day operations of the A/P department.
  • Provide oversite and support to the Records Management department.
  • Oversee calculation of gross margins on a monthly basis and investigate variances.
  • Prepare various month-end journal entries.
  • Prepare account reconciliations.
  • Prepare consolidating eliminating journal entries.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements.
  • Monitor subsidiary accounting activity.
  • Assist with year-end audit.
  • Coordinate annual budget process and monthly forecasting.
  • Evaluate and document processes and procedures.
  • Assist with accounting systems development.
  • Prepare schedules to support the completion of the federal and state corporate tax returns.
  • Prepare other compliance reporting as assigned.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) or equivalent from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience with financial month-end close processes.
  • Understanding of accounting principles and application of those principles.
  • Corporate tax experience preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data and draw conclusions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Treasury management experience preferred.
  • Experience maintaining a general ledger.
  • Familiarity with a bank treasury management system.
  • Experience with budgeting and/or accounting software.
  • Background in developing full scope financial statements – P&L, balance sheet(s), and cash flows.
