Assistant Corporation Counsel, Labor and Employment Law

The Labor & Employment Law Division is accepting applications from ACCs who are interested in joining the Division’s trial team. Division attorneys defend the City at trial in in complex and challenging state and federal actions arising out of the City’s role as an employer. Division attorneys handle a variety of matters including First Amendment retaliation; gender, race, age and disability discrimination; civil service law issues; and wage and hour litigation. The trial team position would be focused upon managing trial ready cases; specifically with preparing those matters for trial, which includes, but is not limited to, preparing witnesses, preparing pre-trial submissions, drafting motions in limine and post-trial motions. The successful candidate will have a sense of urgency and a passion for trials.

Minimum Qual Requirements

The ideal candidate will be an attorney admitted in New York State in good standing with at least three years of experience. They should be admitted in federal court or be willing to apply for admission as soon as possible. The ideal applicant will have experience in labor and employment litigation and/or trials and will also have strong oral and written advocacy skills.
