The University of Denver’s Morgridge College of Education (MCE) invites applications for the position of Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management and Marketing/Communications.

The Morgridge College of Education’s vision is to train leaders who employ innovative and effective approaches to advance learning throughout the lifespan, educational change, and diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. We are looking for a candidate who can lead efforts to promote MCE and recruit diverse graduate students to our programs and support their success. This is a full-time, benefitted position.

Position Summary

This full-time, benefitted position serves as Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management and Marketing/Communications for the Morgridge College of Education and reports to the Dean. The Assistant Dean assists the Dean, Assistant Dean of Budget and Operations, Associate Deans, and Department Chairs in managing student access, recruitment, and success within MCE. This individual is responsible for overseeing the recruitment and enrollment of students; the admissions and marketing budget; the overall marketing and communications strategies internally and externally for MCE; and collaborating with the Assistant Dean of Budget and Operations on financial aid. This individual will supervise the Associate Director of Admissions, the Associate Director of Marketing/Communications, and all staff within the Office of Enrollment Management and Marketing/Communications. We are looking for a leader who can initiate and lead innovative efforts to promote MCE and recruit quality graduate-level students to our programs.

Essential Functions

Strategy

  • Serve as a member of the Deans administrative leadership team, work with Department Chairs, Admissions staff, Marketing/Communications staff, and Financial Aid staff.
  • Advise on the overall strategy to meet or exceed MCE enrollment and marketing/communication goals.
  • Oversee efforts and initiatives of the Morgridge Office of Enrollment Management and Marketing /Communications and marketing initiatives in the two P-8 schools, Fisher Early Learning Center and Ricks Center for Gifted Children, within the division.
  • Provide strong leadership including staff development, set clear direction, organize workload, and promote a positive workplace.
  • Collaborate and jointly develop policies, procedures, communication mechanisms, and systems to effectively run MCE and its corresponding units. This may include the joint development of optimal financial aid strategy, reporting and evaluation, and the development of structures that support the College’s strategic plan.

Student Recruitment and Enrollment

  • Manage admissions based on enrollment goals, student records, and other established criteria.
  • Lead projects on various strategic initiatives and develop policies and procedures including the development of student recruitment goals, and enrollment and data collection to attract and retain a diverse student body.
  • Oversee MCE enrollment services strategic planning, deployment, and evaluation.
  • Oversee MCE and P-8 schools marketing planning, deployment, and evaluation.

Budget and Financial Management

  • Manage and coordinate applicable administrative and budgetary management of Admissions, Financial Aid, and Marketing/Communications.
  • Collaborate with budget and planning office on discount and scholarship/financial aid policies and procedures to ensure optimal rate/volume for the college.

Marketing/Communications

  • Advance and promote a multi-faceted, complex understanding of the purpose and function of marketing and communications in an academic environment.
  • Provide office and staff administration, and budgetary management for the Morgridge Office of Enrollment Management and Marketing/Communications
  • Promote the work of the MCE – its faculty, students, and alumni to external audiences.
  • Promote overall brand awareness across all media.
  • Work collaboratively with Central Marcom to develop and maintain a first-in-class website.
  • Produce annual reports, newsletters, and other online and print materials.
  • Coordinate and oversee event communications.
  • Provides direct support to the Dean for public speaking, media engagement, and other communications.
  • Advises the Dean’s Team on crisis communications.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Outstanding ability to thrive in a highly collaborative environment with administrative leaders, faculty, staff, and students.
  • Extensive understanding of graduate education and recruitment and admissions processes, including lead generation and techniques needed to successfully convert a high percentage of inquiries into applicants and applicants into enrolled students.
  • Lead teams, initiatives, assess challenges, initiate new ideas, and create paths within the MCE strategic goals.
  • Communicate MCE recruitment, communications, and marketing objectives and plans to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Take initiative and work collaboratively for student success (e.g., recruitment, enrollment, and retention).
  • Utilize data for effective planning and decision-making.
  • Lead a high-functioning team, including the ability to hire, manage, motivate, and develop staff towards growth as leaders.
  • Compile, organize, analyze, and disseminate data for enrollment management purposes for all MCE stakeholders.
  • Develop, understand, and analyze budgets, including enrollment revenue and expense budgets.
  • Work independently, solve problems, provide leadership, demonstrate discretion and judgement, resolve conflict, plan strategically and make sensible and thoughtful choices.
  • Learn and maximize Slate for student recruitment and communication.
  • Successfully navigate both high and granular level tasks.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Required Qualifications

  • Masters degree or equivalent.
  • 7 years of experience with graduate student recruitment, enrollment, and marketing/communications.
  • Familiarity with complex budget development, management, and analytical decision-making.
  • 5-7 years of administrative leadership and successful supervisory experience of a team.
  • Proven successful management of external enrollment partnerships.
  • Direct experience in a higher education setting.
  • Experience with strategic planning.
  • Experience successfully working with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Strong demonstrated evidence of application of recruiting best practices for diverse students, including international students.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework in Higher Education or Business.
  • Direct experience in student recruitment and marketing in similar program offerings of the Morgridge College of Education.
  • Direct experience in a variety of higher education settings (e.g., public, private, HSI, HBCU).
  • Previous experience with Banner, specifically the admission and financial aid modules.
  • Previous experience with Slate higher education admissions system.

Working Environment

1. Standard office environment.
2. Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
3. Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

1. Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
2. Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.

Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 14.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $100,000-$115,000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting.
