Job Description:
Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Assistant Dean will serve in a leadership role that oversees the Division of Student Affairs. The Assistant Dean will lead the divisional efforts to enhance the students out of classroom experience while being mission and student centered. This is a full-time, exempt-salary position, working on-site Monday – Fridays from 8:30am to 4:30pm.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a senior member of the Student Affairs leadership team with the Dean of Students
- Directly oversees and manages the functional areas of Housing & Residence Life, the Counseling Center and the Department of Justice grant funded Prevention Programs & Wellness which includes supervision, hiring and evaluating of professional staff.
- Oversee the day to day operations of the Housing & Residence life program
- Assist in managing the day to day operations of the student conduct process, student hearing boards and appeals process.
- Manages the divisional budgets which includes coordinating the annual budget planning and representing the division on the campus wide Budget Committee
- Serves on the Dean on Duty on call rotation by supporting the Residence Life staff in emergency and crisis situations.
- Collaborates with college wide departments on the student intervention team (SIT) while providing resources, mentorship and advocacy both in and and out of the classroom
- Serve as Title IX investigator
- Coordinate divisional meetings, retreats, training and other professional development opportunities
- Supports the Dean of Students in key areas, including, strategic initiatives & planning and policy development
- Serve on campus wide committees, including but not limited to Orientation, Opening, Commencement and Diversity, Equality and Inclusion
- In the absence of the Dean of Students, represent the Division of Student Affairs
- Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Students
Requirements
- A Masters Degree in Education, higher education administration, counseling or a related field is preferred
- 5-8 years of related Student Affairs experience
- Experience managing a budget and monitoring expenditures with a proven track of accurate record keeping
- Must be available for evening and weekend activities
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft office applications
- A valid Drivers License
