The Position

This position assists in the administration of the School of Arts & Humanities; performs faculty observations, participates in budgetary and strategic planning activities. This position also manages professional development planning, participates in staff recruitment activities and promotes student engagement.

Staff Duration: Full Time 12 months

What You Will Do

1. Exercises department leadership in program development and maintenance.

2. Organizes, develops, evaluates, implements and monitors instructional programs and assessment activities.

3. Assists with the supervision and evaluation of designated college personnel; also conducts faculty observations.

4. Provides recommendations to support hiring, development and retention decisions impacting employees.

5. Participates in processes related to obtaining grants and budget committee planning; works with outside contacts in the implementation of articulation agreements.

6. Monitors class/faculty schedules, student advising schedules and office hours.

7. Manages and responds to student concerns and issues within the School.

8. Prepares reports and maintains standards related to the accreditation process.

9. Teaches up to 6 credits/year.

10. Related projects, initiatives and duties as assigned.

The Successful Candidate Must Have

1. Master’s Degree in an academic discipline related to the School (Arts, English, History, Performing Arts, Philosophy, Graphic Arts).

2. Five years of experience in Higher Education of which at least two years was in administration and at least three years was in a post-secondary teaching position.

3. Four years of leadership or supervisory experience that required accountability for department, unit, function, program or team/student results.

4. Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, database or other related technology and the ability to analyze and create detailed documents, reports, presentations, instructional materials, etc.

2. Two or more years of prior teaching experience at a Community College.
