Under general supervision of the Associate Dean of Admissions, the Assistant Director of Admissions is responsible for systems, operations and data management for the Admissions Office. Strategically works with the Dean and Associate Dean of Admissions to implement a successful recruitment and communication plan to enroll a qualified and diverse group of students each academic school year. Creates reports, analyzing data, managing applicant data, coordinating electronic communications, reviewing and evaluating applications, overseeing the recruitment activities and programs both on and off campus, and serving as one of the primary points of contact while cultivating relationships with external and internal constituents for the purpose of furthering admissions goals.

Essential Duties Summary

  • Develops effective recruitment strategies utilizing a range of resources and initiatives, including but not limited to visiting colleges, attending law/grad fairs, planning events offsite and on-campus, social media/email campaigns, directs contact and counseling with prospective students and working with others in the admissions office to facilitate and encourages enrollment with a focus on improving the overall quality, diversity and credentials of the entering class.
  • Trains faculty to read applications online and managing the application flow among admissions committee members.
  • Develops and prepare models to capture data to track recruiting results. Provides the data required for all studies to facilitate marketing efforts.
  • Plans, with the administrative and professional staff, admitted student days and other campus visitation opportunities.
  • Responsible for ongoing prospect data management and reporting, including systems to manage visits and tours.
  • Directly responsible to the Associate Dean of Admissions for the daily management and operation of the Admissions Office.
  • Selects student tour guides, schedule the student tour guides and provide oversight of the calendar of visits.
  • Responsible for coordinating the LSAR Calendar with the Admissions Office Coordinator.
  • Responsible for the American Bar Association ( ABA ) Annual Questionnaire and extensive Annual Law School Admissions Office Annual Report which is communicated to the ABA , Dean of the Law School, Faculty, University President, Provost and other designated interested parties.
  • Reads applicant files and make recommendations as to admissions decisions.
  • Provides detailed reporting and yield information as requested.
  • Implements and train personnel on the use of the LSAC Aces2 platform which tracks every function of the office from prospects to applicants, recruiting events, student contacts and communications, etc.
  • Executes out-reach to PreLaw Advisors and campus PreLaw Organizations soliciting invitations to speak to prelaw students on campuses around the country.
  • Designs, staff, and supervises entertainment functions for Open Houses hosted by the Admissions Office.
  • Assists in constructing and supervising an extensive Marketing Plan.
  • Trains new staff, as required, on proper use of applications used within the office.
  • Supervises the design, data collection, implementation of all charts and graphs for statistical tracking purposes leading to admissions decisions.
  • Counsels prospective applicants.
  • Collaborates with the enrollment team to create all official correspondence to prospects, applicants and matriculants.
  • Assists in the coordination, supervision and completion of special projects as appropriate.
  • Advises on the admissions process, curriculum, financial aid process and scholarship opportunities and interfaces with the Financial Aid Office in managing scholarship and financial aid awards.
  • Responsible for developing resolutions for student application concerns.
  • Maintains oversight of the admissions web site and make changes as needed on a regular basis.
  • Monitors various chat rooms and other vehicles candidates use to discuss law admissions and financial aid.
  • Initiates and maintains the online message board/portal and Facebook page for admitted students.
  • Designs new online initiatives to attract more applicants to apply (e.g. Facebook Chats).
  • Creates and interfaces with LSAC all online applications.
  • Manages and maintains all admissions computing systems including Aces2 and the Banner Transfer.
  • Serves as liaison to the IT department for software upgrades and system maintenance.
  • Develops and implements pre- and pos- admissions recruitment strategies in collaboration with the Communications Office in print and web publications.
  • Directs the execution of strategic multi-tiered mailing to law school candidates in accordance with admissions marketing plan.
  • Manages candidate communications by telephone and email in an efficient and strategic manner.
  • Initiates and manages alumni, faculty and student outreach to participate in the marketing/recruitment efforts.
  • Assists in constructing a scholarship matrix to maximize both credentials of the entering class and meeting tuition goals.
  • Assists is evaluating law school candidates for the award of scholarship assistance. Oversee packaging and distribution of scholarship awards. Responsible for advising the FA Office of scholarship awards made by the office of admissions.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

$55,513.00 – $69,392.00

Education

Bachelor’s degree or higher.

JD degree preferred.
