The Assistant Director, Creative Operations is a critical role in the successful development, execution and delivery of the creative work that impacts our audience journey and drives our business forward.
As the Assistant Director, Creative Operations, you will partner closely with the Creative Director to map out the annual design roadmap, determine annual priorities and ensure execution of all creative projects. You will lead a team of project coordinators to ensure that all creative projects are resourced appropriately and executed on-time and within budget. You will audit existing processes and steward new ways of working into the organization to ensure that we are operating in an efficient and effective way.
Responsibilities:
- Leads annual creative roadmap development process taking client roadmaps into account along with internal design team priorities. Works with departments and staff across the Museum to understand graphic design needs and deliver projects in a timely and accurate manner.
- Builds and maintains internal resourcing program to allocate team members appropriately in collaboration with Creative Director.
- Establishes creative briefing process that accounts for the variety of jobs and creative requests that enter the creative studio. Introduces templates, tools and timelines that allow for agile creative development that evolves with our business needs throughout the year.
- Develops and implements new financial and operational reporting processes to best maintain budgets across the design department and client partners across the organization.
- Oversees relationships with third party vendors, develops contracts, monitors expenditures, and prepares revenue documentation.
- Collaborates with Director to develop annual departmental budget.
- Serves as a creative studio liaison with all curatorial departments for collection gallery installations and commissions; follows up on next steps, attends regular check-ins, and addresses any issues as they arise related to creative needs.
- Identifies project priorities and sequencing and ensure implementation of timelines, in collaboration with production teams, guiding the planning process simultaneously for several projects at various stages of development.
- Leads and mentors a team of project management staff with a focus on successful execution of work, skill development and career pathing.
- Performs any other duties reasonably related to the functions described above.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and 10 or more years progressive experience with a proven track record of project management and staff development, or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of the arts and design.
- Excellent communication, organizational, writing, and editing skills.
- Familiarity with workflow for print and digital design and production.
- Experience collaborating between multiple departments, while managing up to internal stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills and familiarity with project management tools, particularly Asana.
- Detail oriented with excellent managerial and presentation skills.
- Ability to work well within a team, and to build relationships and consensus.

Supervises: Project Coordinators (2)
Salary range: Minimum of $80,000 to a maximum of $125,000 per annum
