Assistant Director for Undergraduate Academic Integrity for Educational Initiatives

The Office of Undergraduate Academic Integrity is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Director of Academic Integrity for Educational Initiatives. It is an exciting time for academic integrity initiatives at Virginia Tech. The institution recently implemented a learning-centered academic integrity process. This position is an integral part of our efforts to support and promote a culture of honesty and integrity. The person in this position will be expected to function with a high level of independence grounded in a thorough understanding of the purpose, policies, and procedures associated with responding to student disciplinary matters. This position will also be expected to lead and implement strategies designed to educate the campus community under the direction of the Director of Undergraduate Academic Integrity. This position will also maintain a direct working relationship with other key stakeholders at the University. This position will require occasional night and weekend work.

The Assistant Director for Undergraduate Academic Integrity for Educational Initatives is a member of the Office of Undergraduate Academic Integrity staff and has primary responsibility for leading the university’s efforts in educating the campus community on academic integrity. This position will specifically be responsible for developing and leading the following in the Office of Undergraduate Academic Integrity: assessment, educational programming, marketing, and the oversight of faculty and student outreach programs. This position will engage closely with the Virginia Tech Community for the purpose of education surrounding academic integrity and will be primarily responsible for cultivating a culture of faculty and student support for academic integrity on the Virginia Tech campus.

Specific responsibilities of the Assistant Director for Undergraduate Academic Integrity for Educational Initiatives include:

Serve as instructor, manager and developer of the Academic Integrity Education Seminar and other proactive and reactive educational programming for students, as well as provides other workshops and presentations and outreach events for students on the Virginia Tech campus designed to promote and cultivate a culture of academic integrity.
Responsible for the development, oversight and coordination of academic integrity workshops and programming for faculty designed to promote best practices surrounding academic integrity in the classroom. Assists with case management.
Advise faculty members who report alleged academic dishonesty violations when they come into the Office or call with a question and the Director or Coordinator of Undergraduate Academic Integrity is not present.
Assist Director and UHS personnel in interviewing, training, and selection of graduate assistants, interns, faculty panel members, student leaders, and staff members.
Manages, assesses and develops learning outcomes for students and faculty as well as tracks statistics related to reports of alleged academic misconduct and develops in conjunction with other administrative staff members bi-monthly reports, semester reports, yearly reports, and newspaper reports on cases.

Required Qualifications

1. Master’s degree in degree in student development, counseling, educational leadership,
public administration, communication, English or a related field.
2. Working knowledge of best practices in academic integrity.
3. Experience working with faculty in a higher education environment.
4. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with demonstrated ability to
communicate and collaborate at the highest levels of the university.
5. Strong written, oral, organizational, management and interpersonal skills.
6. Strong customer service in an academic or professional office environment.
7. Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and timely decision-making practices to
accomplish organizational goals.
8. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Previous experience in higher education with faculty outreach, student conduct, housing
and residence life and/or a role that requires extensive collaboration between academic
and student affairs.
2. Experience teaching or advising within an academic program in higher education.
