The Enrollment Management Central Office is looking for another great team member! EMCO is growing and looking to provide even better service to the 7 departments within Enrollment Management. Enrollment Management employs nearly 200 Full-Time staff, nearly 250 student employees this semester alone, and a number of Temp staff, Temp Faculty, Research Grant and Dual Employment positions.
The Assistant Director of Human Resources is responsible for providing leadership and oversight to complex HR functions for offices served by the Enrollment Management Central Office. They will primarily focus on serving the needs of the offices of Admissions, Enrollment Data Analytics, Financial Aid, New Student Orientation and the Visitor Center; however, they will assist 2 other offices within Enrollment Management as needed.
The Assistant Director must ensure compliance with University policies and procedures for all HR actions, and also provide clear, concise, and correct information to staff members and other internal constituents (e.g. Provost’s Office, HR) as needed.
This position may require occasional overtime work during peak periods. This position is may be eligible for hybrid work.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor’s degree and 3 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge or experience with the State’s classification system and Human Resources regulations. Experience performing job analysis, market pricing, and salary survey participation.
- At least two years of prior work experience, particularly in college or university business office settings, is preferred.
- Experience in Enrollment Management.
- Knowledge of University of South Carolina policies, procedures, payroll/leave management and HR systems.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Considerable computer mastery with specific knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Capacity to learn web-based financial and HR systems.
- Ability to correctly interpret policies and procedures, and understand the application of rules and regulations.
- Ability to establish and sustain positive working relationships with staff, co-workers, and other campus partners.
- Ability to coach staff in a positive, encouraging manner.
- Ability to manage sensitive situations with confidentiality and discretion.
- Ability to appropriately manage prioritize multiple concurrent tasks of a varied nature.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to write, develop, coordinate, and communicate policies, procedures, and strategic planning.
- Ability to prepare reports and presentations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and be sensitive to the private nature of personnel and financial information.
- Ability to work independently with little direction as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Ability to handle special constituent issues with discretion and tact.
