ANNUAL HIRING SALARY RANGE: $74,600 to $85,000
Position Summary
Do you love social media? Do you have a positive track record in social media marketing? If so, the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communication may be right for you. This role is all things social. You will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing our official social media channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, X (formerly Twitter), Threads and TikTok). Your primary goal will be to enhance brand awareness, engage the target audience and drive traffic and conversions through various social media platforms organically. You will work closely with the marketing team and other relevant stakeholders to create and execute compelling social media campaigns that align with the company’s overall marketing objectives.
Our ideal candidate is passionate about social media and has a track record of building social media communities and creating social media content that support brand development and engagement. They should be both creative and analytical, able to come up with innovative ideas and also measure their impact. Furthermore, they should enjoy working collaboratively with a team, be great at building relationships cross-functionally and be interested in marketing and communication. Overall, this candidate should be a social media superstar who is capable of driving impactful campaigns organically.
This position is a Monday to Friday role, with occasional evening or weekend requirements. The role is expected to be in-person on campus. This role can work remotely on occasion as needed. Limited to no travel is required for this position.
Experience and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5 years of social media experience
- Skills
- Excellent writing and analytical skills
- Familiar with social media platforms, Sprout, content management systems such as Drupal and creative tools like Adobe and Photoshop
- Understands current and future social media trends
- Organized and creative
- Demonstrated problem solver with strong communication skills
- Ability to take direction and work to meet expected deadlines and schedules

Essential Functions
- Social Media Strategy Development:
- Develop and execute social media strategies that support our brand identity, goals and target audience.
- Conduct research and stay updated on social media trends, platform updates and emerging technologies to ensure the organization’s social media presence remains innovative and relevant.
- Content Creation and Curation:
- Develop engaging, creative and relevant content for various social media channels, including text, images, videos and infographics that are in line with the brand standards.
- Curate user-generated content from students, alumni and others to foster community engagement and brand advocacy.
- Social Media Channel Management
- Manage and maintain all social media accounts, including but not limited to Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and emerging platforms.
- Schedule and publish content, ensuring consistent posting frequency and optimal timing for maximum reach and engagement.
- Community Engagement and Support:
- Monitor and respond to comments, messages and inquiries on social media channels promptly and in a professional manner.
- Foster a positive and interactive community by engaging with followers, addressing concerns and providing exceptional support.
- Analytics and Performance Tracking
- Use social media analytics tools to track and analyze key performance metrics, such as reach, engagement, click-through rates and conversions.
- Generate regular reports on social media performance and use data-driven insights to optimize strategies and improve results.
- Social Media Advertising:
- Support team, as needed, with paid social media advertising campaigns to drive brand awareness and consideration.
- Help monitor ad performance and provide reporting as needed.
- Collaboration and Cross-functional Communication:
- Collaborate with the marketing, design and content teams to align social media efforts with broader marketing campaigns.
- Coordinate with students, alumni and other key stakeholders to amplify brand presence and reach.
- Performs all other duties as assigned
