The Milford Public Schools seeks a highly qualified and passionate individual to play a critical role in theTalent Management and Development (formerly Human Resources) department’s efforts to support the district’s model for high quality instruction and the Vision of the Learner. The Assistant Director of Talent Management and Development (TMD) is responsible for providing leadership and support to the Director of TMD, the Superintendent, the district leadership team (which includes school administrators), and employees of the school district. The Assistant Director of Talent Management and Development is responsible for effectively planning, developing, implementing, and administering services associated with the Talent Management and Development functions. The Assistant Director of Talent Management and Development promotes a culture that emphasizes service, communication, motivation, and support; working collaboratively with district administrators and TMD staf to identify approaches and develop practices that facilitate service and resources to the District. The Assistant Director of Talent Management and Development will assist in the strategic leadership of TMD priorities in support of the district’s goals and priorities.
ESSENTIAL WORK OF THE POSITION: (Illustrative, not inclusive)
Primary Responsibilities
- Implement and integrate key talent processes across the district including, but not limited to talent recruitment, employee engagement and retention initiatives, workforce design and diversity recruitment and retention initiatives
- Serve as a strategic partner through coaching/consultation with administrators and employees on employee relations issues including career conversations, performance, harassment, discipline issues, etc.
- Conduct investigations such as Title IX or other employment related investigations concerning staff
- Participate, develop, and assist with implementation of diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and projects in order to attract, develop and retain a diverse workforce
- Assist in proactively building a talent pipeline for current and future staffing needs.
- Coach and provide guidance to administrators throughout the search and selection process, including a development and review of job descriptions, how to conduct interviews and evaluate candidates.
- Create and implement programs and processes in regards to onboarding, talent retention, identifying and building future leaders,recognition and rewards etc.
- Collaborate and participate in Milford Teacher Academy to orient new teachers to Milford. Assist new teacher hires throughout the first year.
- Assist leadership with various professional learning opportunities
- Assist in Teacher Evaluation process, assign evaluators and track progress throughout the year
- Assist in creation and maintenance of program to track and monitor district FTEs
- Create processes for understanding turnover and retention-conduct exit interviews and “stay” interviews
- Assist with various State reports
- Creat employee surveys as needed
- Oversight of ADA and FMLA processes
- Other duties as assigned.

- Strong knowledge of recruitment process recruitment principles, and candidate experience.
- Understanding of applicable federal and state employment laws.
- Demonstrates the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with integrity and discretion.
Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in related area
- CT teacher certification a plus
- 10+ years of relevant work experience, in either a Human Resources or K-12 Education setting
- 2+ years experience in a leadership role
- Proficiency in G Suite (Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms, and Gmail),, web-based recruiting tools, and applicant tracking systems. Knowledge of PowerSchool, Frontline or Alio a plus.
Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Classification: This position is classified as Exempt
Terms of Employment: 12 month, non-union, individual contract with competeive salary and benefits
Salary Range: $85,000–$100,000 depending on experience
