The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. This position will be in support of Creative Forces®: NEA Military Healing Arts Network. Creative Forces is investing in activities intended to facilitate the transition from clinical treatment provided by creative arts therapists (CATs) to post-treatment community-based arts engagement experiences aimed to further improve health, well-being and quality of life. The primary objectives of the Community Arts Clinical Network Liaison are to 1) lead the development of the Clinic to Community Continuum (C2CC) Blueprint that will outline C2CC pathways and guide the development of the C2CC process at the clinical sites; 2) work with CATs across the Creative Forces Network as they foster relationships with community arts organizations around their clinical sites; and 3) provide subject matter expertise to the Clinical Leadership Team regarding community arts programming, and State and Local Arts Organization infrastructure.
HJF is seeking a Community Arts Clinical Network Liaison to facilitate and oversee the work of the C2CC Working Group and inform relationship-building with community arts programming across clinical sites using robust arts organization and administration knowledge and experience. The ideal candidate possesses commitment to participatory and collaborative decision-making and demonstrates keen awareness of best practices for equity, access, and inclusion in the arts. This position will be 20 hours per week during the standard business day. This is a project-based position for a year with potential for extension.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate the work of the C2CC Working Group as they collaborate to develop a Blueprint that will serve as a guide to standardize language and definitions regarding the characteristics of the C2CC process. The working group will identify, and share lessons learned. They will also identify, develop, and disseminate capacity-building resources and strategies to address common barriers. The C2CC Working Group will consist of creative arts therapists, community arts organizations, and other key stakeholders (e.g., subject matter experts from the VA and DoD).
- Serve as a Liaison to the network of Creative Forces CATs by assisting them with developing collaborations with local arts organizations and building a local ecosystem of post-treatment community-based arts engagement experiences that aim to improve health, well-being, and quality of life.
- Serve as a subject matter expert to the Clinical Leadership Team, providing a community engagement perspective to strategic decisions and utilization of resources. Will be a member of the Clinical Leadership Team, including expectation of participation in weekly meetings.
- Assist the Creative Forces Clinical Program Internal Evaluator with monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities outlined in the C2CC Theory of Change and Logic Model.
- Provide educational outreach regarding project objectives through presentations, meeting agendas, and other activities and efforts at relevant events.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by Creative Forces leadership.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience working with arts organizations in support of programming focused on meeting needs of the military or veteran population.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to work both independently as well as within a team.
- Computer/technological proficiency, including general office applications and virtual meeting platforms.
- Ability to interact respectfully with a variety of identities, cultures, backgrounds and ideologies.
- Experience facilitating workgroups and engaging stakeholders.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with the DoD and VA healthcare systems.
- Familiarity with state, regional and local arts assets which may support military-connected communities.
- Experience collecting and reporting data as well as program management experience.

Work Environment
- This position is 100% remote.
- Computer is provided by employer, internet fees not covered.
- Work hours may vary based on planned events and meetings.
- Travel: variable, not anticipated to be more than monthly.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Arts in Arts Administration (preferred) or related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience.
Compensation
- The likely salary range for this position is $30.24 USD to $36.05 USD per hour. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensations or salary. Final salary will be determined based on market analysis, experience, and education.
