Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Health Promotions Coordinator (HPC), responsible for assisting with the implementation and coordination of all wellness programs developed. These programs target the strengthening of health by improving conditions of life based on knowledge about the development and maintenance of good health – aimed at influencing health related conditions and behavior patterns.
- Instruct health education wellness classes and programs
- Motivate participants to set and reach health goals
- Integrate wellness/fitness program initiatives into culture and organizational mission
- Under the direction of the Health Promotions Coordinator, lead special projects and initiatives
- Assist in the measurement and evaluation of the program components
- Disseminate health education information. Areas of focus include nutrition, chronic disease identification and prevention
- Prepare and maintain required reports and statistical data
- Enter client information and class participation in the program data base(s)
- Perform other duties as required by the HPC and/or Director
COMPETENCIES
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential;
- Strong organizational and time management skills;
- Experience with database and Microsoft Office programs, particularly Word and Excel;
- Working knowledge and certification in DFTA funded evidence-based wellness and exercise programs preferred;
- Bilingual (Spanish) a plus but not required.
EDUCATION EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors Degree in Public Health, Health Education, Social Work or Associates Degree and one year of customer service experience in a related field or one-year experience
