The Opportunity:
The City of El Cajon is currently searching for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to help plan, organize and coordinate recreational and leisure services programs with the Parks and Recreation Department. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, be a team player, and demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
The Position:
The Assistant Parks and Recreation Supervisor assists in the planning, organizing and coordination of a comprehensive recreational and leisure services program at a community recreation center and/or to be responsible for a major function or program; to assume responsibility for the operation of the center in the absence of the Parks and Recreation Supervisor; and perform related work as required.
The Recruitment Process:
Depending on volume of applicants, the most qualified candidates will be invited to participate in a Qualifications Appraisal Interview tentatively scheduled for August 22, 2023. Based on the scores, successful candidates will be placed on an eligible list for employment consideration for at least six months.

Qualification Guidelines
Education: Educational achievement equivalent to graduation from college with a four-year degree in recreation or related field. Equivalency may be achieved by the evaluation or any combination of education, training and experience relating to professional recreation.
Experience: Some experience leading and/or overseeing a variety of recreation programs.
Special Requirements: Ability to obtain a CPR and advanced First Aid certificate; ability to obtain a water safety instructor’s certificate and lifeguard training when assigned to the aquatics program. Possession of a valid Class C California driver’s license with a safe driving record. The employee may be required to drive or arrange transportation between worksites.
