Summary

The Manager, Haulaway Operations position will be responsible for trucking operations which include but are not limited to: shipping automobiles on car-haulers in the most efficient and cost effective manner, overseeing rail ramp truck operations, tracking truck vendor KPI performance, shipment, and ETA, ramp and port dwell reporting and reduction, non-standard shipments, managing truck carrier A/P invoices and customer A/R billing.

Compensation

$95,000-$110,000/Annually

Responsibilities

  • Primary
    • Transportation Network
      • Monitor truck carrier dwell performance at ocean ports, vehicle processing centers, and rail ramps
      • Take appropriate action to maintain truck carrier dwell within acceptable limits
      • Monitor and track vehicle shipments in transit from origins to final destinations
      • Provide network insight and suggestions on RFQ preparation and assist in approving new carrier selections
      • Manage Special Moves group in overseeing non-standard shipment activities (auto shows, off-site shuttles, cross shipments, new OEM accounts, etc.)
      • Manage Rail Ramp Operations group in overseeing rail ramp network, ensuring vehicles are shipped in a timely manner and storage fees are limited
    • Optimization of Carrier Network Routing
      • Conduct quarterly optimization reviews with carriers and recommending necessary changes to improve network performance
      • Assist in conducting trucking optimization studies, in effort to ship vehicles to destinations in the most cost-effective and expeditious manner
    • Truck Carrier Invoice Processing
      • Oversee all A/P truck carrier invoicing and ensure all A/R billable items are processed through the Operations Admin Dept.

    • Staff Development
      • Direct the Vehicles Logistics Special Moves Group, Rail Ramp Operations Team, and Vehicle Logistics (VL) Field Staff in the execution of logistics activity in support of GLOVIS and its customer’s wholesale objectives
      • Develop and mentor the logistics staff to help meet personal and professional goals
    • Vendor KPI Tracking
      • Assist VL support team with truck vendor KPI reporting and conduct quarterly reviews with carriers to drive continuous improvement
      • Help oversee and enforce countermeasure development with truck carriers to correct deficiencies and improve performance
      • Ensure annual, quarterly, and monthly carrier performance targets set by planning team are met by the truck carriers

Qualifications

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, along with experience using database systems; advanced level knowledge preferred

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • 7-10 Years of Experience in the Logistics, Processing Operations, Supply Chain
  • 1-3 Years of Experience in Supervisory/Management
