Assistant Product Manager – Institutional Life

This position primarily involves a hybrid work schedule – working remotely: Monday & Friday / on site: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

The Assistant Product Manager is responsible for providing support to the Institutional Life Product Manager for the product development of Institutional Life’s Bank Owned Life Insurance (BOLI) and Corporate Owned Life Insurance (COLI) products and oversight of our legacy products.
The Assistant Product Manager role will report to the Product Manager within Institutional Life.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Understand our current BOLI and COLI product offerings and how they meet stakeholders’ objectives as well as our legacy products
  • Project manage product initiatives from product ideation to business specifications and product roll out leading a cross-functional team through the product development process
  • Act as Product Owner for technology work and drive backlog prioritization for all product related projects with technology delivery teams and third-party vendors
  • Assist in the policy and rider contract drafting in conjunction with the filing team and our Office of General Counsel (OGC) for new product development and changes to the product features on inforce
  • Explore BOLI and COLI opportunities, such as through external research, that New York Life can capitalize on
  • Update and maintain a detail listing of all legacy and current products and key features in order to be the key resource when questions about these products arise
  • Provide research on our competitor’s products and their filings to provide insights to Institutional Life’s project and product strategy
  • Support strategic thinking and initiatives of NYL’s Institutional Life business
  • Assist with PowerPoint decks and governance memos required for product development work
  • Support inforce business including the preparation of internal and external reporting and remediation efforts

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of related work experience
  • Good project management skills with the ability to plan and execute independent and team projects within reasonable timeframe
  • Demonstrates high energy and a strong motivation to contribute to the success and growth of the business
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in writing and orally.
  • Flexibility to juggle and prioritize multiple high priority projects; must be very organized and have excellent follow-through.
  • High standard of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of JIRA and Tableau a plus
