The Department of Art at Utah Tech University in St. George, Utah, invites applicants for a full-time tenure-track faculty position, starting Fall semester or August 2024. The Art department helps students take their artistic interests and refines them into lifelong passions, offering five emphases that help students thrive in a creative world. Responsibilities
- Teach 24 credits of lecture and studio art courses each academic year, plus provide institutional service as defined by University Policy and the College of the Arts.
- Work with Department Chair, Dean, and other faculty in the Art department on curriculum and program.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and instruction of non-foundations General Education Art courses.
- Assist with oversight in the development, implementation, and instruction of Art courses.
- Perform defined campus-wide duties, including holding office hours, attendance at department and division meetings, service on committees, outreach programs, and other responsibilities as defined by university policy.
- Assist in mentoring, supervising, and assisting part-time instructors (adjunct faculty).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Terminal Degree (MFA) in Art or closely related discipline from an accredited college or university required. Candidates who will finish their MFA by August of 2024 may be considered.
- Background in professional photography and photography education.
- Expertise in 2D art, digital art, animation, 3D art, art history or another related field will be considered favorably.
- Evidence of potential for successful teaching at the college level (finalists will be asked to give a teaching demonstration as part of the interview process).
- Ability to develop innovative curriculum and appropriate course content for face-to-face instruction, flipped, hybrid, and online instruction.
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills to contribute positively to a collegial environment.
- Willingness to work with and assist part-time instructors.
- An eagerness to engage with colleagues, staff and administrators to develop ways to improve the educational experience for our students.

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Full-time (9-month) faculty position. Faculty service begins August 2024, with pay & benefits starting July 1, 2024. Annual salary of $54,000 – $58,000, depending on qualifications & experience; additional compensation available for summer/overload teaching.
