Overview

The Assistant Security Supervisor reports to the Security Manager and assists in all phases of Security related to events at Cox Business Convention Center. This position also has a shared responsibility in the hiring, training, scheduling and coaching or possible termination of all Security personnel at the center.

This role will pay a salary of $19.23 to $28.85.

About the Venue

The Cox Business Convention Center (CBCC), located in the Arena District in downtown Tulsa, is a modern and award-winning venue providing over 275,000 square feet of flexible meeting space. Owned by the City of Tulsa for over 50 years, the CBCC has been host to every kind of event imaginable and proudly serves the citizens of Tulsa and guests from around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews programs and operational issues that affect the department and makes recommendations to the Secuity Manager.
  • Provides technical assistance to department personnel on matters dealing with administration and operational policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • May act as a security representative to a major tour which would include advance work and on-site management of all required needs from the tour.
  • Support the head of the security operation during an event related to the safety & security of clients, guests, the complex and all related parties.
  • Performs detailed research and drafts reports on various issues, projects and assignments per the direction of the Security Manager or Director of Security.
  • Conducts pre-event briefings with event staff as needed by the Secuirty Manager.
  • Responsible with coaching and development, scheduling and training, as well as hiring and termination decision making of all event staff security.
  • Assist with interviewing and training of new security staff, may also need to support terminations by request of the Management team.
  • Prepares or develops processes around event scheduling of part-time Security staff to properly prepare for events.
  • Recommends staff promotion and/or disciplinary actions based on employee performance.
  • Assist with formulating, directing, and coordinating the protection of guests and property while they are on site.
  • Assist with new employee orientation and training with focus on safety/risk.
  • Assist with training sessions for all staff to include de-escalation, emergency preparedness, situational awareness, etc.
  • Conduct security inspections of areas under security control for safety violations.
  • Assists in other duties as assigned by the Director of Security, AGM, or GM..

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or training in security management are highly desirable.
  • 2-4 plus years as a security officer
  • Experience with hiring and training employees.
  • Uses a computer to prepare employee work schedules, reports and projects.
  • Maintains appropriate department files and records to ensure consistency and correctness of information.
  • Works closely with the leadership for Events/Security/Risk Management/Parking areas in the identification and development of training classes as needed.
  • Special projects as needed or requested.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as the Event schedule requires.
