DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This individual will supervise employees and outside contractors in the day-to-day operation. Inspect job sites for compliance to assure that our personnel are performing in compliance with State and City Codes and regulations for the health and safety of the public. Manage equipment and rolling stock, coordinate, manage and supervise equipment, i.e., hand tools, vehicles, testing instruments, etc. Administer departmental policy and procedures relative to operational and personnel activities. Create correspondence and reports; respond to emergencies, daily assignment issues, A.D.A compliance issues, signage, coordinate emergency responses; purchasing issues, and Kronos (timekeeping) issues. Supervises all concrete / masonry repairs and maintenance, ordering of amenity equipment and installation. Supervises Paint Shop and FMD Custodians as well as the contracted custodians. Represent the department by giving both written and oral presentations to department heads and the public. Perform additional assignments as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The position occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional very light lifting, such as three or four reams of papers or books (up to 20 pounds or an equivalent weight) may be required. There are occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less-than-optimal temperature and air conditions. The position may involve dealing with modestly unpleasant situations, as with occasional exposure to office chemicals and/or extensive use of a video display terminal.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires an Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Recreation or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Four years of progressively responsible professional and/or skilled experience closely related to the activities of the section are required, including one of the years in a supervisory capacity.

Directly related professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and comply with the City of Houston’s policy on driving (AP 2-2).
PREFERENCES
Preference shall be given to applicants with at least ten years of commercial experience along with two years of experience in a supervisory capacity. Two years of experience with contractors/ vendors and city contracts. Familiar with or be willing to learn SAP program. Applicants who have experience in commercial general contracting are preferred. Bilingual preferred.
