ASSISTANT SUPERVISOR OF FINANCE
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for essential school accounting activities. This position will provide ancillary system coordination, training and support for financial systems used at the school level. Assists Finance office in meeting cyclical deadlines for reporting purposes.
DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES
INCLUDE
Manages and supports the online payment solutions for schools and overall system use.
Collaborates with schools to match business needs with proper set-up of online payment solutions.
Collaborates with families and schools regarding family accounts to properly account for monies deposited and ensure refunds are properly managed.
Develop and provide professional learning to lead secretaries related to School Activity Funds (SAF) policies and procedures, and state required reporting, including but not limited to, sales tax and unclaimed property.
Provide software training and technical support for school finance software and online payment software for authorized users.
Provides accounting support and training school bookkeepers for SAF.
Manages and maintains the accounting chart of accounts for all schools.
Manages and maintains vendor set up in the accounting system for schools, ensuring consistency with vendor set up in systemwide ERP.
Perform year-end close for all schools in school accounting software.
Analyzes school bank statements and accounting entries and provides recommendations to the Assistant Superintendent for change.
Assists in development of policies and procedures related to school activity funds.
Assesses internal control compliance and collaborate with the Assistant Superintendent which matters should be referred to the Office of Internal Audit.
Prepares necessary year-end and annual reports of school activity fund information for submission to the state as well as for consolidation with system-wide reporting requirements related to audit or MSDE requirement.
Manages HCPS vendor relationships as they pertain to school banking and ancillary systems.
Provides support to bookkeepers by acting as the liaison with banks, comptroller’s office for sales tax, W-9 requestors, and third-party NSF check collectors.
Organizes and prioritizes tasks related to school accounting support.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
SALARY
Salary range based on the FY 2023-2024 AHCATSP Salary Schedule for Non-Certified Administrative, Technical and Supervisory Professionals.
Grade G – Salary Range: $107,957 – $142,447
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an accounting or a financial related field and three years of experience working in an accounting/finance related position is preferred.
Ten years of experience in an accounting/finance related position may be applied in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent Microsoft Office Skills.
Essential qualities include: strong initiative, ability to prioritize and ability to work independently.
