Assistant Supervisor – Revenue and Accounts Receivable

The Fiscal Affairs Unit is currently seeking an Assistant Supervisor for the Revenue and Accounts Receivable Unit. The Fiscal Affairs Revenue and Accounts Receivable unit plays a critical role within the NYC Department of Transportation. This unit is responsible for preparing, reviewing, processing, and recording all DOT revenues. They ensure the timely processing of deposits into the city treasury and oversee the entire process related to claim submissions and drawdowns with various state and federal funding sources. This position will report directly to the Supervisor of the Revenue and Accounts Receivable Unit and will be responsible for providing guidance and support to the unit’s daily activities. The selected candidate will also assist in mentoring the team, attending regular staff meetings, and completing ad hoc projects as necessary.

The Revenue and Accounts Receivable Unit is primarily responsible for processing State and Federal reimbursement claims for both capital and expense grants within designated deadlines. It is essential that the unit maintains adherence to established policies and procedures. Furthermore, the unit is accountable for verifying the accuracy and completeness of refund vouchers, revenue invoices, cash receipts, request documents, and supporting backup documentation for claims and payments. To accomplish this, the unit utilizes the City’s Financial Management System (FMS3) to accurately process cash receipts and claims, ensuring they are allocated to the appropriate revenue and funding sources.

*IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION CANDIDATE MUST BE SERVING PERMANENTLY IN THE TITLE OF ACCOUNTANT OR CURRENTLY REACHABLE ON THE LIST FOR ACCOUNTANT, OR ELIGIBLE UNDER THE 55A PROGRAM.*

Minimum Qual Requirements

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in accounting, including one course each in advanced accounting and auditing; or
2. A valid New York State Certified Public Accountant license.
To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II individuals must have, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, at least one year of experience as an Accountant – Assignment Level I or at least two years of satisfactory full-time professional accounting or auditing experience.

THIS POSITION MAYBE ELIGIBLE FOR REMOTE WORK UP TO 2 DAYS PER WEEK, PURSUANT TO THE REMOTE WORK PIOLOT PROGRAM AGREED TO BETWEEN THE CITY AND DC37.
