About this position
Location: Hybrid within Arlington VA
Fluence is seeking an Associate for the Commercial Team who will both lead and support a number of items for the Fluence Commercial Team. In particular, the Associate will be responsible for analyzing and presenting the competitive landscape and product competitiveness within the Battery Energy System Storage (BESS) global industry. The ideal candidate will work closely with the product management, sales, and other regional teams to identify and analyze the market, assess competitive threats, evaluate Fluence’s progress, and provide strategic recommendations. If successful, the candidate will have strong growth opportunity to take over and lead some of these items globally.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct in-depth research and analysis on industry trends, market size, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities and threats.
• Monitor industry events, conferences, and publications to stay up to date with the latest market trends and competitive developments.
• Develop and maintain key databases, potentially including competitor profiles, product offerings, system pricing, and market share.
• Create executive-level reports and presentations to provide insights on Fluence’s pipeline and win/loss analysis, competitive landscape, and market trends
• Produce white papers and other thought leadership to be published externally
• Collaborate with regional and product teams to develop competitive views for product roadmaps and customer interactions.
• Work cross-functionally with other departments to ensure commercial goals and Fluence market understanding is integrated into business planning and decision-making.
• Ultimately lead the Competitive Intelligence function within all of Fluence
What does the ideal person bring to Fluence?
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Studies, Business, Finance, or other related fields.
- 2+ years in Clean Energy or related industry ideally
- Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights, both quantitative analysis and qualitative feedback.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate insights effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly strong capability in Microsoft Excel; Experience with Salesforce or data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI a plus
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high degree of initiative and creativity.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
