The anticipated salary range for this role is between $96,000.00 and $143,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description
Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation is hiring an Associate in the Compliance Reporting Team in the Compliance Department. Thie Compliance Reporting Team is responsible for leading the effort in developing and managing a reporting framework for Board and Senior Management Compliance Risk Reporting, managing the Compliance Risk Appetite process, and centralizing the data collection effort for metrics reporting. In addition, this team partners with various stakeholders including heads of US Compliance Functions, Group Companies, and the MIS Team to enhance risk-based metrics’ reporting to help inform and report on both Compliance Risk and Compliance Performance to management, committees and the Board.
This role will be part of the development, implementation, and production of Compliance metrics, and will help support the reporting and analysis of KPIs and KRIs for the Compliance Department.
This is a unique Compliance Risk Analytics and Reporting role that will help you expand your knowledge in various areas of Compliance with the opportunity to grow your personal and professional skillsets.
Role Objectives
- Support a metrics reporting platform for Compliance through data collection for reporting and trend analysis
- Support methods in which Compliance obtains and analyzes data to improve quality and efficiency
- Help define, design, and execute new data collection and analysis of processes
- Standardize data from various sources to maintain data integrity across Americas Division
- Facilitate well-structured documentation management in SharePoint and manage report delivery
- Participate in maintaining and developing the Compliance Measures inventory
- Produce monthly and quarterly Compliance Risk metrics for reporting; contribute to effectively addressing identified risks and help to further evolve Compliance risk metrics
- Assist in ongoing Compliance Reporting Transformation efforts to reflect continued centralization of Compliance programs/functions
- Provide support in managing the various Compliance forums (scheduling, meeting minutes, etc.)
- Participate in ad hoc projects, analysis, and presentations
Qualifications and Skills
- 4+ years of experience in Compliance and financial services; knowledge of various business activities, products, and services offered across financial services institutions is preferred
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of compliance laws/regulations, industry trends, and emerging issues/risks, as well as the ability to apply knowledge to risk management strategies
- Significant data analytics experience, including metrics development and production
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills; detail-oriented with the ability to stay organized across multiple workstreams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; ability to use Data Visualization tools (Power BI and Tableau preferred)
- Understanding of SharePoint capabilities and workflows
