Summary
In the context of the College’s core values of learning, community, integrity, responsibility and excellence, the Associate Dean, will assist the Dean with providing leadership, planning, direction and management for the Department of BLIS. The Associate Dean will assist with, and support day-to-day department operations, and implement new initiatives as directed, focusing on the BLIS career programs within the department. Essential Functions

- Assist and support the Department Dean and faculty/staff.
- Assist the Department Dean with the following duties:
- Administer departmental compliance with faculty collective bargaining agreement and with college policies.
- Support and instill the college’s core values in all related programs and services.
- Exercise general administrative responsibilities in the absence of the Dean.
- Work with the Dean in providing guidance and evaluating teaching chairs and program coordinators.
- Develop short and long-term plans for the department and assist with the college’s strategic planning initiatives and priorities and incorporate them at the departmental level.
- Assist in developing and maintaining the departmental budgets.
- Recruit, interview, recommend the employment of and evaluate departmental personnel, recommending professional development plans as necessary.
- Lead new program development and capacity building initiatives for the department, such as Cybersecurity, AI, and Early Childhood.
- Administer departmental matters for students, including but not limited to hearing student complaints and grade appeals, evaluating course work for transfer to ICC, evaluating late registration, and late withdrawal appeals.
- Assist in scheduling classes for departmental subject areas.
- Analyze departmental enrollments and develop plans and strategies for continued enrollment growth and student retention.
- Assist in conducting departmental meetings for full time and adjunct instructional personnel and provide orientation and in-service training for department staff as necessary.
- Build and maintain relationships/partnerships with advisory committees, business community, K-12 systems, community agencies, universities; promote economic development.
- Create and oversee courses and programs developed with area K-12 institutions and business/ industry.
- Promote awareness of the college through serving on local boards, panels and task forces; making presentations to the community; attending community events, serving as spokesperson to the media, and hosting visitors to the campus.
- Assist in writing grant proposals and implement grant oversight as needed.
- Assist in planning and implementing student recruitment programs and activities.
- Assist in evaluating departmental programs and courses and working on new curricular offerings.
3. Participate in and lead departmental and campus-wide committees and teams as necessary

Minimum Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
- Master’s degree.
- Academic experience in teaching, curriculum development, or assessment.
- Knowledge of principles of effective teaching, assessment, and classroom observation techniques.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.

- Doctorate degree.
- Teaching experience, preferably in a community college in one of the BLIS disciplines.
- Administrative or coordinator experience in higher education.
