Associate Design Director, Visual Merchandising – Bobbi Brown

PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVE:

The Associate Director of Visual Merchandising will manage direction or certain global store programs and work on the three-dimensional design. The Director will produce clear directives to the global regions to successfully execute in-store. Their designs will bring to life seasonal global launches as well as permanent assortments in all types of retail environments.

The Associate Director will report to the Director of Global Visual Merchandising. As a member of the Global Merchandising team, the overall goal is to ensure that a consistent look and feel is carried out at counter and the Bobbi Brown overall brand image continues to evolve, ensuring a strong brand presence in a highly competitive marketplace.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Take ownership of certain global store programs, partnering with Creative and Marketing departments to realize the design and strategic vision.
  • Attend meetings with upper management to present projects, answer questions and receive feedback.
  • Conceptualize dimensional displays through hand sketching, references, building in 3D and rendering (Rhino +Keyshot preferred).
  • Create technical drawings and guidelines for the designs created (Illustrator + InDesign).
  • Demonstrate an understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, cost, and time requirements of dimensional design.
  • Build prototypes if needed either in house or through vendor.
  • Consideration of graphic elements applicable to VM designs.
  • Attend meetings, present concepts, and report on status of current projects if necessary.
  • Time management of deliverables over various projects.
  • Maintain communication with cross functional teams to meet the vision of the brand.
  • Maintain awareness of current trends in visual arts and merchandising, travel as necessary, and complete in-store site visits to observe counters in action and/or approve production, research trends and materials.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Position requires 5+ years of experience, preferably in industrial design, visual merchandising, store planning/design, event design, or related experience, with 4 years supervisory experience.
  • Must have familiarity working with Open Sell environments, On Counter units and store navigation.
  • Must think creatively and innovatively, while having the ability to articulate thoughts and ideas clearly.
  • Strong 3-dimensional design skills with a great sense of 2D design.
  • Strong ability to render and communicate ideas, flexibility of vision, responsiveness to creative input and great visual sensibilities.
  • Excellent hand-skills to comp creative concepts to highest presentation quality.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with Creative and Non-Creative team members to give ideas as well as take direction.
  • Ability to receive input from others and be able to productively discuss/defend design solutions while remaining flexible and open to other points of view with both internal and external groups.
  • Have a strong grasp of the ideation and production process and be able to adapt to the processes established at ELC, to meet deadlines.
  • Superior organizational skills to handle the details of many projects simultaneously with ability to juggle many pressing priorities with ease in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of current Fashion/Retail trends, ability to identify and translate trends in the industry and the consumer marketplace.
  • Computer skills: On Mac platform; Illustrator, Photoshop, In-Design, Rhino, Keyshot. MS Excel.
  • Thorough knowledge of all digital file formats and their best-practice applications.
  • Understanding of server protocol and follow through on file back-up and archiving procedures to prevent the loss of work product.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $88,000 to $133,000. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
